Using data from 24 countries in Asia, Europe and Latin America, the study investigates the ways in which young people are prepared to undertake their roles as citizens in a range of countries in the second decade of the 21st century. It also responds to the enduring and emerging challenges of educating young people in a world where contexts of democracy and civic participation continue to change. New developments of this kind include the increase in the use of social media by young people as a tool for civic engagement, growing concerns about global threats and sustainable development, as well as the role of schools in fostering peaceful ways of interaction between young people. Besides enabling the evaluation of a wide range of aspects of civic and citizenship education, including those related to recent developments in a number of countries, the inclusion of test and questionnaire material from the first cycle of the study in 2009 allows the results from ICCS 2016 to be used to examine changes in civic knowledge, attitudes and engagement over seven years. . 606 $aAssessment 606 $aInternational education  606 $aComparative education 606 $aEducational policy 606 $aEducation and state 606 $aAssessment, Testing and Evaluation$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/O33000 606 $aInternational and Comparative Education$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/O13000 606 $aEducational Policy and Politics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/O19000 615 0$aAssessment. 615 0$aInternational education . 615 0$aComparative education. 615 0$aEducational policy. 615 0$aEducation and state. 615 14$aAssessment, Testing and Evaluation. 615 24$aInternational and Comparative Education. 615 24$aEducational Policy and Politics. 676 $a371.26 700 $aSchulz$b Wolfram$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0865962 702 $aAinley$b John$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 702 $aFraillon$b Julian$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 702 $aLosito$b Bruno$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 702 $aAgrusti$b Gabriella$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 702 $aFriedman$b Tim$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910293142703321 996 $aBecoming Citizens in a Changing World$91984135 997 $aUNINA
