It deals with a set of ?insecurities? that is not readily understood or measurable. As such, it conceptually locates the threats and impediments to ?human security? within relationships of risk, uncertainty, safety and trust. At the same time, it presents a wide variety of investigations and approaches from both localized and regional perspectives. By focusing on the human and relational dimensions of insecurities in Southeast Asia it highlights the ways in which vulnerable and precarious circumstances (human insecurities) are part of daily life for large numbers of people in Southeast Asia and are mainly beyond their immediate control. Many of the situations people experience in Southeast Asia represent the real outcomes of a range of largely unacknowledged socio-cultural-economic transformations interlinked by local, national, regional and global forces, factors and interests. Woven from experience and observations of life at various sites in Southeast Asia, the contributions in this volume give an internal and critical perspective to a complex and manifold issue. They draw attention to a variety of the less-than-obvious threats to human security and show how perplexing those threats can be. All of which underscores the significance of multidisciplinary approaches in rethinking and responding to the complex array of conditioning factors and interests underlying human insecurities in Southeast Asia. 410 0$aAsia in transition (Springer (Firm)) ;$vv. 5. 606 $aHuman security$zSoutheast Asia 606 $aPeace 606 $aHuman geography 606 $aAsia?Politics and government 606 $aEmigration and immigration 606 $aQuality of life 606 $aPeace Studies$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/912070 606 $aHuman Geography$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/X26000 606 $aAsian Politics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/911110 606 $aMigration$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/X24000 606 $aQuality of Life Research$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/X23000 607 $aSoutheast Asia$xSocial conditions 615 0$aHuman security 615 0$aPeace. 615 0$aHuman geography. 615 0$aAsia?Politics and government. 615 0$aEmigration and immigration. 615 0$aQuality of life. 615 14$aPeace Studies. 615 24$aHuman Geography. 615 24$aAsian Politics. 615 24$aMigration. 615 24$aQuality of Life Research. 676 $a320 702 $aCarnegie$b Paul J$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aKing$b Victor T$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aZawawi Ibrahim$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910255316403321 996 $aHuman insecurities in southeast Asia$91763084 997 $aUNINA
