By systematically examining the development of power dynamics in Asia-Pacific, it challenges the notion that a wealthier and militarily more powerful China is automatically turning the regional tides in its favour. With a special emphasis on Sino-US competition, the book explores the alleged linkage between the regional distribution of relevant material and immaterial capabilities, national power and the much-cited regional power shift. The book presents a novel concept for measuring power in international relations by outlining a composite index on aggregated power (CIAP) that includes 55 variables for 44 regional countries and covers a period of twenty years. Moreover, it develops a middle power theory that outlines the significance of middle powers in times of major power shifts. By addressing political, military and economic cooperation via a structured-focused comparison and by applying a comparative-historical analysis, the book analyses in depth the bilateral relations of six regional middle powers to Washington and Beijing. . 410 0$aGlobal Power Shift,$x2198-7343 606 $aInternational relations 606 $aAsia?Politics and government 606 $aAsia?Economic conditions 606 $aUnited States?Politics and government 606 $aInternational Relations$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/912000 606 $aAsian Politics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/911110 606 $aAsian Economics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/W45010 606 $aUS Politics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/911180 615 0$aInternational relations. 615 0$aAsia?Politics and government. 615 0$aAsia?Economic conditions. 615 0$aUnited States?Politics and government. 615 14$aInternational Relations. 615 24$aAsian Politics. 615 24$aAsian Economics. 615 24$aUS Politics. 676 $a327 700 $aFels$b Enrico$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0960391 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910255300103321 996 $aShifting Power in Asia-Pacific$92177099 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03565nam 2200697Ia 450 001 9910953208903321 005 20251116143306.0 010 $a1-134-58593-4 010 $a1-134-58594-2 010 $a0-429-23255-1 010 $a1-280-31787-6 010 $a0-203-46597-0 010 $a0-203-24795-7 024 7 $a10.4324/9780203465974 035 $a(CKB)111056485543254 035 $a(EBL)166484 035 $a(OCoLC)560008440 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000141481 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11130205 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000141481 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10089994 035 $a(PQKB)11558418 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC166484 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL166484 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebr10054215 035 $a(CaONFJC)MIL31787 035 $a(OCoLC)42762089 035 $a(FINmELB)ELB153125 035 $a(EXLCZ)99111056485543254 100 $a19991028d2000 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurcn||||||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 14$aThe driving force of the market $eessays in Austrian economics /$fIsrael M.
