Employing qualitative and quantitative analysis, it presents empirical evidence suggesting persistent economic growth. The research highlights improvements in infrastructure, health care, education, poverty alleviation as well reductions in infant mortality rate. The impact of this economic growth has however had led to only slight improvements in the plight of the poor. The author argues that, while significant steps have been achieved with measurable economic gains, there are still undeniable obstacles within the federal system: prevailing patron-client relationships, constraints on state capacity to efficiently and effectively implement policy, and bureaucratic rent-seeking in the provision of public goods. The author concludes that these problems will have to be resolved before Ethiopia?s political economy can achieve the stage of sustainable development. 606 $aAfrica?Politics and government 606 $aAfrica?Economic conditions 606 $aEconomic development 606 $aInternational business enterprises 606 $aEconomic development?Environmental aspects 606 $aAfrican Politics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/911090 606 $aAfrican Economics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/W45020 606 $aRegional Development$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/913050 606 $aAfrican Business$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/525030 606 $aDevelopment and Sustainability$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/913110 606 $aDevelopment and Health$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/913060 615 0$aAfrica?Politics and government. 615 0$aAfrica?Economic conditions. 615 0$aEconomic development. 615 0$aInternational business enterprises. 615 0$aEconomic development?Environmental aspects. 615 14$aAfrican Politics. 615 24$aAfrican Economics. 615 24$aRegional Development. 615 24$aAfrican Business. 615 24$aDevelopment and Sustainability. 615 24$aDevelopment and Health. 676 $a320.96 700 $aTesfaye$b Aaron$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0941795 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910255286103321 996 $aState and Economic Development in Africa$92124895 997 $aUNINA
