Technologies such as social networks, recommendation algorithms, virtual cloud storage, and portable listening devices increasingly mediate both personal and communal experiences with music. While such technologies may be convenient, their unexamined use raises ethical, socio-political, and philosophical questions. This volume brings together multiple contributions which engage with these questions and others posed by emergent musical and social technologies. Drawing upon a range of different areas of inquiry, it provides a varied critical approach to the question of how people interact with music in the modern era and debates the universal themes of modern music consumption. 410 0$aPop Music, Culture and Identity,$x2634-6621 606 $aMusic 606 $aCommunication 606 $aCulture$xStudy and teaching 606 $aMusic 606 $aMedia and Communication 606 $aCultural Studies 615 0$aMusic. 615 0$aCommunication. 615 0$aCulture$xStudy and teaching. 615 14$aMusic. 615 24$aMedia and Communication. 615 24$aCultural Studies. 676 $a780.9/05 702 $aPurcell$b R$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aRandall$b R$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910255242503321 996 $a21st Century Perspectives on Music, Technology, and Culture$92531781 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03229nam 22005775 450 001 9910337924003321 005 20200706000258.0 010 $a3-319-99879-X 024 7 $a10.1007/978-3-319-99879-4 035 $a(CKB)4100000007389689 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC5628140 035 $a(DE-He213)978-3-319-99879-4 035 $a(PPN)233799060 035 $a(EXLCZ)994100000007389689 100 $a20190102d2019 u| 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurcnu|||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 14$aThe Ankarana Plateau in Madagascar $eTsingy, Caves, Volcanoes and Sapphires /$fby Eric Gilli 205 $a1st ed. 2019. 210 1$aCham :$cSpringer International Publishing :$cImprint: Springer,$d2019. 215 $a1 online resource (171 pages) 225 1 $aCave and Karst Systems of the World,$x2364-4591 311 $a3-319-99878-1 327 $aPresentation -- Geography -- Fauna and Flora of the Ankarana -- Geology and Hydrogeology -- Speleology in the Ankarana -- Caves of the Northern Ankarana -- Caves of the Mananjeba Buttes -- Caves of the Southern Buttes -- Others Caves Near the Ankarana Plateau -- The People of the Ankarana -- The Tourism in the Ankarana -- General Bibliography. 330 $aThe book describes the Ankarana plateau and its cave network in Madagascar, depicting the natural environment of the Plateau as well as the natural processes which created the cave network of more than 100km with many galleries, some are very large and draped with different cave formations and underground rivers are inhabited with crocodiles and giant eels. This place is famous for its surface landscape formed with tsingy, natural needles formed by the weathering of limestone. The Ankarana is surrounded by native Madagascan rain forest inhabited with lemurs and it was a natural shelter for the Ankarana people whose kings were buried in caves. The cave system has been partially explored since the sixties and exploration is still in progress. The book includes several maps (geology, topography, hydrology), the survey of the caves and a brief description of the Ankarana Kingdom. 410 0$aCave and Karst Systems of the World,$x2364-4591 606 $aGeomorphology 606 $aGeology 606 $aHydrogeology 606 $aEthnology 606 $aGeomorphology$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/J16010 606 $aGeology$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/G17002 606 $aHydrogeology$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/G19005 606 $aEthnography$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/X12060 615 0$aGeomorphology. 615 0$aGeology. 615 0$aHydrogeology. 615 0$aEthnology. 615 14$aGeomorphology. 615 24$aGeology. 615 24$aHydrogeology. 615 24$aEthnography. 676 $a556.981 700 $aGilli$b Eric$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0448121 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910337924003321 996 $aThe Ankarana Plateau in Madagascar$92089791 997 $aUNINA
