This book provides a summary of this effort, which resulted in development of a prototype tool for fire department use. The impact of fire on a community is usually measured in terms of the number of fires, human casualties, and property damage. There are, however, more subtle impacts of fire that are not so easily estimated but contribute to the measure of overall performance of the fire service in protecting a community. While environmental and economic impact assessment methodologies exist as separate systems, they generally require a high level of knowledge that is outside the scope of most fire departments. A relatively simple methodology for estimating the environmental and economic impact of fires helps communities understand the degree to which fire department activities can benefit a community’s environmental and economic well-being. The scope and approach for this prototype tool is explained, including risk assessment, cost benefit analysis, life cycle assessment, integration and implementation, and sensitivity and uncertainty analysis. It includes multiple case studies and offers statistical support for future expansion of the tool. Fire service professionals will find this a useful new approach to presenting value in a community, as well as a method for examining their own financial and environmental plans. 410 0$aSpringerBriefs in Fire,$x2193-6595 606 $aCivil engineering 606 $aQuality control 606 $aReliability 606 $aIndustrial safety 606 $aNatural resources 606 $aEnvironmental engineering 606 $aBiotechnology 606 $aCivil Engineering$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/T23004 606 $aQuality Control, Reliability, Safety and Risk$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/T22032 606 $aNatural Resource and Energy Economics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/W48010 606 $aEnvironmental Engineering/Biotechnology$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/U33000 615 0$aCivil engineering. 615 0$aQuality control. 615 0$aReliability. 615 0$aIndustrial safety. 615 0$aNatural resources. 615 0$aEnvironmental engineering. 615 0$aBiotechnology. 615 14$aCivil Engineering. 615 24$aQuality Control, Reliability, Safety and Risk. 615 24$aNatural Resource and Energy Economics. 615 24$aEnvironmental Engineering/Biotechnology. 676 $a628.92 700 $aAmon$b Francine$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0906145 702 $aGehandler$b Jonatan$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 702 $aStahl$b Selim$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 702 $aTomida$b Mai$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 702 $aMeacham$b Brian$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910254998503321 996 $aDevelopment of an Environmental and Economic Assessment Tool (Enveco Tool) for Fire Events$92026707 997 $aUNINA
