While much academic work, both historical and contemporary, has been done on the authorship side of the equation, this book examines the notion of public interest, and the way that concepts of public interest and the rhetoric surrounding it have been involved in shaping the law of copyright. While many histories of copyright focus on the eighteenth century, this book's main concern is with the period after 1774. The nineteenth century was the period during which the boundaries of copyright, as we know it today, were drawn and ideas of 'public interest' were integral to this process, but in different, and complex, ways. The book engages with this complexity by moving beyond debates about the appropriate duration of copyright, and considers the development of other important features of copyright law, such as the requirement of legal deposit, the principle that some works will not be subject to copyright protection on the grounds of public interest, and the law of infringement. While the focus of the book is on literary copyright, it also traces the expansion of copyright to cover new subject matters, such as music, dramatic works and lectures. The book concludes by examining the making of the 1911 Imperial Copyright Act -the statute upon which the law of copyright in Britain, and in all former British colonies, is based. The history traced in this book has considerable relevance to debates over the scope of copyright law in the present day; it emphasises the contingency and complexity of copyright law's development and current shape, as well as encouraging a critical approach to the justifications for copyright law."--Bloomsbury Publishing. 606 $aCopyright$zGreat Britain$xHistory$y19th century 606 $aPublic interest$zGreat Britain$xHistory$y19th century 606 $2Intellectual property law 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aCopyright$xHistory 615 0$aPublic interest$xHistory 676 $a346.410482 700 $aAlexander$b Isabella$01053191 801 0$bUtOrBLW 801 1$bUtOrBLW 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910459429103321 996 $aCopyright law and the public interest in the nineteenth century$92484954 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03505nam 22005175 450 001 9910254854703321 005 20200702214758.0 010 $a1-4842-2680-1 024 7 $a10.1007/978-1-4842-2680-3 035 $a(CKB)4100000000882573 035 $a(DE-He213)978-1-4842-2680-3 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC5107901 035 $a(PPN)220128677 035 $a(EXLCZ)994100000000882573 100 $a20171018d2017 u| 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurnn|008mamaa 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aPractical Python Design Patterns$b[electronic resource] $ePythonic Solutions to Common Problems /$fby Wessel Badenhorst 205 $a1st ed. 2017. 210 1$aBerkeley, CA :$cApress :$cImprint: Apress,$d2017. 215 $a1 online resource (XVII, 350 p. 1 illus. in color.) 300 $aIncludes index. 311 $a1-4842-2679-8 327 $a1: Before We Begin -- 2: Singleton Pattern -- 3: Prototype Pattern -- 4: Factory Pattern -- 5: Builder Pattern -- 6: Adapter Pattern -- 7: Decorator Pattern -- 8: Facade Pattern -- 9: Proxy Pattern -- 10: Chain of Responsibility Pattern -- 11: Command Pattern -- 12: Interpreter Pattern -- 13: Iterator Pattern -- 14: Observer Pattern -- 15: State Pattern -- 16: Strategy Pattern -- 17: Template Method Pattern -- 18: Visitor Pattern -- 19: Model View Controller Pattern -- 20: Publish-Subscribe Pattern -- Appendix A: Patterns Quick Reference. 330 $aBecome a better, more productive programmer through a series of projects that will help you deeply understand and master each of the design patterns covered. In this book you will learn to write elegant "Pythonic" code to solve common programming problems. You will also experience design thinking, by identifying design patterns that would be helpful given a specific problem or situation. Python is eating the world. In recent years it has become so much more than a mere object-oriented, scripting language. Design patterns help you think of and solve problems in chunks. They help you to stand on the shoulders of the giants who have come before, instead of having to reinvent the wheel. What You Will Learn Craft cleaner code Increase your effectiveness as a programmer Write more Pythonic code Solve bigger problems Discover optimal solutions to common problems, done in a way that is uniquely Pythonic Who This Book Is For  Programmers who are comfortable with Python. It is also guide for people who have mastered other programming languages and who want to make the transition to Python. 606 $aPython (Computer program language) 606 $aComputer programming 606 $aSoftware engineering 606 $aPython$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/I29080 606 $aProgramming Techniques$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/I14010 606 $aSoftware Engineering$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/I14029 615 0$aPython (Computer program language) 615 0$aComputer programming. 615 0$aSoftware engineering. 615 14$aPython. 615 24$aProgramming Techniques. 615 24$aSoftware Engineering. 676 $a005.133 700 $aBadenhorst$b Wessel$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0957614 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910254854703321 996 $aPractical Python Design Patterns$92169042 997 $aUNINA
