The FUCI is highly significant to the study of Catholic politics and intellectual ideas, as a large proportion of the future Christian Democrats who ruled the country after World War II were formed within the ranks of the federation. In broader terms, this is a contribution to the historiography of Fascist Italy and of Catholic politics and mentalities in Europe in the mid- twentieth century. It sets out to prove the fundamental ideological, political, social and cultural influences of Catholicism on the making of modern Italy and how it was inextricably linked to more secular forces in the shaping of the nation and the challenges faced by an emerging mass society. Furthermore, the book explores the influence exercised by Catholicism on European attitudes towards modernisation and modernity, and how Catholicism has often led the way in the search for a religious alternative modernity that could countervail the perceived deleterious effects of the Western liberal version of modernity. 410 0$aHistories of the Sacred and Secular, 1700?2000 606 $aItaly?History 606 $aReligion and sociology 606 $aHistory, Modern 606 $aEurope?Politics and government 606 $aWorld politics 606 $aHistory of Italy$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/717050 606 $aReligion and Society$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/1A8020 606 $aModern History$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/713000 606 $aEuropean Politics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/911130 606 $aPolitical History$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/911080 607 $aItaly$xIntellectual life$y20th century 607 $aItaly$xHistory$y1922-1945 607 $aItaly$2fast 608 $aHistory.$2fast 615 0$aItaly?History. 615 0$aReligion and sociology. 615 0$aHistory, Modern. 615 0$aEurope?Politics and government. 615 0$aWorld politics. 615 14$aHistory of Italy. 615 24$aReligion and Society. 615 24$aModern History. 615 24$aEuropean Politics. 615 24$aPolitical History. 676 $a945 700 $aDagnino$b Jorge$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0969695 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910254765403321 996 $aFaith and Fascism$92203646 997 $aUNINA
