Morris?s utopian writing, alongside his journalism and public lectures, constituted part of a sustained counter-hegemonic project that intervened both into the life-world of the fin de siècle socialist movement, as well as the dominant literary cultures of his day. Owen Holland demonstrates this by placing Morris in conversation with writers of first-wave feminism, nineteenth-century pastoralists, as well as the romance revivalists and imperialists of the 1880s. In doing so, he revises E.P. Thompson?s and Miguel Abensour?s argument that Morris?s utopian writing should be conceived as anti-political and heuristic, concerned with the pedagogic education of desire, rather than with the more mundane work of propaganda. He shows how Morris?s utopianism emerged against the grain of the now-here, embroiled in instrumental, propagandistic polemic, complicating Thompson?s and Abensour?s view of its anti-political character. 410 0$aPalgrave Studies in Utopianism 606 $aGreat Britain?History 606 $aEurope?History?1492- 606 $aCivilization?History 606 $aIntellectual life?History 606 $aWorld politics 606 $aHistory of Britain and Ireland$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/717020 606 $aHistory of Modern Europe$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/717080 606 $aCultural History$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/723000 606 $aIntellectual Studies$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/729000 606 $aPolitical History$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/911080 615 0$aGreat Britain?History. 615 0$aEurope?History?1492-. 615 0$aCivilization?History. 615 0$aIntellectual life?History. 615 0$aWorld politics. 615 14$aHistory of Britain and Ireland. 615 24$aHistory of Modern Europe. 615 24$aCultural History. 615 24$aIntellectual Studies. 615 24$aPolitical History. 676 $a941 700 $aHolland$b Owen$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0969693 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910254763003321 996 $aWilliam Morris?s Utopianism$92203643 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01891nam0 2200373 i 450 001 VAN00056223 005 20240806100513.10 010 $a03-87984-97-6 010 $a978-03-87984-97-1 100 $a20061116d1998 |0itac50 ba 101 $aeng 102 $aUS 105 $a|||| ||||| 200 1 $aˆThe ‰four-color theorem$ehistory, topological foundations, and idea of proof$fRudolph Fritsch, Gerda Fritsch$gtranslated by Julie Peschke 210 $aNew York$cSpringer$d1998 215 $aXVI, 260 p.$cill.$d23 cm 606 $a01A55$xHistory of mathematics in the 19th century [MSC 2020]$3VANC025109$2MF 606 $a05-XX$xCombinatorics [MSC 2020]$3VANC019812$2MF 606 $a05C10$xPlanar graphs; geometric and topological aspects of graph theory [MSC 2020]$3VANC021385$2MF 606 $a05C15$xColoring of graphs and hypergraphs [MSC 2020]$3VANC029129$2MF 606 $a54Hxx$xConnections of general topology with other structures, applications [MSC 2020]$3VANC024605$2MF 606 $a57M15$xRelations of low-dimensional topology with graph theory [MSC 2020]$3VANC023654$2MF 620 $aUS$dNew York$3VANL000011 700 1$aFritsch$bRudolph$3VANV041139$0726329 701 1$aFritsch$bGerda$3VANV044688$0725821 712 $aSpringer $3VANV108073$4650 790 1$aFritsch, Rudolf$zFritsch, Rudolph$3VANV044687 801 $aIT$bSOL$c20240906$gRICA 856 4 $uhttp://books.google.it/books?id=oGuXAkR6tlMC&printsec=frontcover&hl=it$zhttp://books.google.it/books?id=oGuXAkR6tlMC&printsec=frontcover&hl=it 899 $aBIBLIOTECA DEL DIPARTIMENTO DI MATEMATICA E FISICA$1IT-CE0120$2VAN08 912 $aVAN00056223 950 $aBIBLIOTECA DEL DIPARTIMENTO DI MATEMATICA E FISICA$d08PREST 05-XX 1478 $e08 4788 I 20061116 996 $aFour-color theorem$91424567 997 $aUNICAMPANIA
