Afterword; Bryan Cheyette, University of Southampton, UK. . 330 $aThis is the first book to examine the relationship between European antisemitism and Islamophobia from the Crusades until the twenty-first century in the principal flashpoints of the two racisms. With case studies ranging from the Balkans to the UK, the contributors take the debate away from politicised polemics about whether or not Muslims are the new Jews. Much previous scholarship and public discussion has focused on comparing European ideas about Jews and Judaism in the past with contemporary attitudes towards Muslims and Islam. This volume rejects this approach. Instead, it interrogates how the dynamic relationship between antisemitism and Islamophobia has evolved over time and space. The result is the uncovering of a previously unknown story in which European ideas about Jews and Muslims were indeed connected, but were also ripped apart. Religion, empire, nation-building, and war, all played their part in the complex evolution of this relationship. As well asa study of prejudice, this book also opens up a new area of inquiry: how Muslims, Jews, and others have responded to these historically connected racisms. The volume brings together leading scholars in the emerging field of antisemitism-Islamophobia studies who work in a diverse range of disciplines: anthropology, history, sociology, critical theory, and literature. Together, they help us to understand a Europe in which Jews and Arabs were once called Semites, and today are widely thought to be on two different sides of the War on Terror. 'This is an important intervention in a contentious subject area. The collection, uniquely, opens up the study of antisemitism and Islamophobia across time and space. Made up of leading scholars, it makes an undisputed case for considering comparative racism as relational. It is essential reading for anyone interested in this growing field.' -Bryan Cheyette, Diasporas of the Mind: Jewish/Postcolonial Writing and the Nightmare of History (2014) . 606 $aEngineering 606 $aLife sciences 606 $aSocial sciences 606 $aHumanities 606 $aScience 606 $aMathematics 606 $aSocial history 606 $aTechnology and Engineering 606 $aLife Sciences 606 $aHumanities and Social Sciences 606 $aPhysical Sciences 606 $aMathematics and Computing 606 $aSocial History 615 0$aEngineering. 615 0$aLife sciences. 615 0$aSocial sciences. 615 0$aHumanities. 615 0$aScience. 615 0$aMathematics. 615 0$aSocial history. 615 14$aTechnology and Engineering. 615 24$aLife Sciences. 615 24$aHumanities and Social Sciences. 615 24$aPhysical Sciences. 615 24$aMathematics and Computing. 615 24$aSocial History. 676 $a500 702 $aRenton$b James$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aGidley$b Ben$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910254762203321 996 $aAntisemitism and Islamophobia in Europe$92276596 997 $aUNINA LEADER 05073nam 22006255 450 001 9910495182903321 005 20251107172139.0 010 $a3-030-81265-0 024 7 $a10.1007/978-3-030-81265-2 035 $a(CKB)4100000012007902 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC6708573 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL6708573 035 $a(PPN)257357440 035 $a(OCoLC)1264720632 035 $a(DE-He213)978-3-030-81265-2 035 $a(EXLCZ)994100000012007902 100 $a20210821d2021 u| 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurcnu|||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aTheory of Distributions /$fby Svetlin G. The theory of partial differential equations is one of the synthetic branches of analysis that combines ideas and methods from different fields of mathematics, ranging from functional analysis and harmonic analysis to differential geometry and topology. This presents specific difficulties to those studying this field. This second edition, which consists of 10 chapters, is suitable for upper undergraduate/graduate students and mathematicians seeking an accessible introduction to some aspects of the theory of distributions. It can also be used for one-semester course. 410 0$aMathematics and Statistics Series 606 $aFunctional analysis 606 $aMathematical analysis 606 $aFourier analysis 606 $aFunctional Analysis 606 $aAnalysis 606 $aAnalysis 606 $aFourier Analysis 615 0$aFunctional analysis. 615 0$aMathematical analysis. 615 0$aFourier analysis. 615 14$aFunctional Analysis. 615 24$aAnalysis. 615 24$aAnalysis. 615 24$aFourier Analysis. 676 $a515.782 700 $aGeorgiev$b Svetlin$01218802 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910495182903321 996 $aTheory of distributions$92843007 997 $aUNINA
