The first two chapters present the basic tools needed, from formal language theory (regular and context-free languages, automata, rewriting systems, transducers, etc) and emphasize their connections to group theory, mostly relating to free and virtually-free groups. The material covered is sufficient to present full proofs of many of the existing interesting characterizations of virtually-free groups. In turn, the last chapter comprehensively describes Bonahon?s construction of Thurston?s compactification of Teichmüller space in terms of geodesic currents on surfaces. It also includes several intriguing extensions of the notion of geodesic current to various other, more general settings. 410 0$aAdvanced Courses in Mathematics - CRM Barcelona,$x2297-0304 606 $aGroup theory 606 $aComputer science?Mathematics 606 $aComputer mathematics 606 $aGroup Theory and Generalizations$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/M11078 606 $aMathematical Applications in Computer Science$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/M13110 615 0$aGroup theory. 615 0$aComputer science?Mathematics. 615 0$aComputer mathematics. 615 14$aGroup Theory and Generalizations. 615 24$aMathematical Applications in Computer Science. 676 $a512.2 700 $aAramayona$b Javier$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0888236 702 $aDiekert$b Volker$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 702 $aLeininger$b Christopher J$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 702 $aSilva$b Pedro V$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 702 $aWeiß$b Armin$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 702 $aGonzález-Meneses$b Juan$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aLustig$b Martin$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aVentura$b Enric$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910254298503321 996 $aAlgorithmic and Geometric Topics Around Free Groups and Automorphisms$91984162 997 $aUNINA
