Mathematical models of most physical phenomena are governed by initial and boundary value problems for PDEs, and inverse problems governed by these equations arise naturally in nearly all branches of science and engineering. The book?s content, especially in the Introduction and Part I, is self-contained and is intended to also be accessible for beginning graduate students, whose mathematical background includes only basic courses in advanced calculus, PDEs and functional analysis. Further, the book can be used as the backbone for a lecture course on inverse and ill-posed problems for partial differential equations. In turn, the second part of the book consists of six nearly-independent chapters. The choice of these chapters was motivated by the fact that the inverse coefficient and source problems considered here are based on the basic and commonly used mathematical models governed by PDEs. These chapters describe not only these inverse problems, but also main inversion methods and techniques. Since the most distinctive features of any inverse problems related to PDEs are hidden in the properties of the corresponding solutions to direct problems, special attention is paid to the investigation of these properties. 606 $aDifferential equations, Partial 606 $aComputer science$xMathematics 606 $aNumerical analysis 606 $aComputer science?Mathematics 606 $aMathematical physics 606 $aPartial Differential Equations$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/M12155 606 $aComputational Science and Engineering$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/M14026 606 $aNumerical Analysis$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/M14050 606 $aMathematics of Computing$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/I17001 606 $aTheoretical, Mathematical and Computational Physics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/P19005 615 0$aDifferential equations, Partial. 615 0$aComputer science$xMathematics. 615 0$aNumerical analysis. 615 0$aComputer science?Mathematics. 615 0$aMathematical physics. 615 14$aPartial Differential Equations. 615 24$aComputational Science and Engineering. 615 24$aNumerical Analysis. 615 24$aMathematics of Computing. 615 24$aTheoretical, Mathematical and Computational Physics. 676 $a515.357 700 $aHasanov Hasano?lu$b Alemdar$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0766769 702 $aRomanov$b Vladimir G$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910254276903321 996 $aIntroduction to Inverse Problems for Differential Equations$91903904 997 $aUNINA
