As a first step, the concepts of practical consensus and formation-containment are introduced. Unlike previous research, the formation in this book can be time-varying. A general framework for consensus, consensus tracking, formation, containment and state formation-containment is presented for the first time. Sufficient/necessary and sufficient conditions, and approaches to designing the protocols for swarm systems to achieve these control objectives, are respectively proposed. Autonomous time-varying formation experiments using five quadrotor unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are conducted in an outdoor setting to demonstrate the theoretical results. 410 0$aSpringer Theses, Recognizing Outstanding Ph.D. Research,$x2190-5061 606 $aControl engineering 606 $aSystem theory 606 $aControl theory 606 $aArtificial intelligence 606 $aControl and Systems Theory 606 $aSystems Theory, Control 606 $aComplex Systems 606 $aArtificial Intelligence 615 0$aControl engineering. 615 0$aSystem theory. 615 0$aControl theory. 615 0$aArtificial intelligence. 615 14$aControl and Systems Theory. 615 24$aSystems Theory, Control. 615 24$aComplex Systems. 615 24$aArtificial Intelligence. 676 $a629.8 700 $aDong$b Xiwang$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0762231 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910254181703321 996 $aFormation and Containment Control for High-order Linear Swarm Systems$91545027 997 $aUNINA
