One of the features of this approach is that it does not require the introduction of sample space ? a non-intrinsic concept that makes the treatment of elementary probability unnecessarily complicate ? but introduces as fundamental the concept of random numbers directly related to their interpretation in applications. Events become a particular case of random numbers and probability a particular case of expectation when it is applied to events. The subjective evaluation of expectation and of conditional expectation is based on an economic choice of an acceptable bet or penalty. The properties of expectation and conditional expectation are derived by applying a coherence criterion that the evaluation has to follow. The book is suitable for all introductory courses in probability and statistics for students in Mathematics, Informatics, Engineering, and Physics. 410 0$aLa Matematica per il 3+2,$x2038-5722 ;$v98 606 $aProbabilities 606 $aStatistics  606 $aMathematical statistics 606 $aBusiness mathematics 606 $aPhysics 606 $aApplied mathematics 606 $aEngineering mathematics 606 $aProbability Theory and Stochastic Processes$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/M27004 606 $aStatistical Theory and Methods$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/S11001 606 $aProbability and Statistics in Computer Science$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/I17036 606 $aBusiness Mathematics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/523000 606 $aMathematical Methods in Physics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/P19013 606 $aMathematical and Computational Engineering$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/T11006 615 0$aProbabilities. 615 0$aStatistics . 615 0$aMathematical statistics. 615 0$aBusiness mathematics. 615 0$aPhysics. 615 0$aApplied mathematics. 615 0$aEngineering mathematics. 615 14$aProbability Theory and Stochastic Processes. 615 24$aStatistical Theory and Methods. 615 24$aProbability and Statistics in Computer Science. 615 24$aBusiness Mathematics. 615 24$aMathematical Methods in Physics. 615 24$aMathematical and Computational Engineering. 676 $a519.2 700 $aBiagini$b Francesca$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0321758 702 $aCampanino$b Massimo$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910254086403321 996 $aElements of Probability and Statistics$92174086 997 $aUNINA
