Determinants of Energy Efficiency: Stochastic Frontier Analysis. 330 $aThis book describes structural analysis methods for examining energy demand and energy efficiency that are important in formulating regional economic and environmental policies. Beginning with ways of ascertaining regional energy demand, it describes methods for developing energy efficiency indicators and their determinants. Fluctuations in regional energy demand are largely explained by analyzing variations in energy intensity, and there is a strong association between energy efficiency indicators and energy intensity. The energy efficiency indicator proposed is consistent with fluctuations in energy intensity and is highly accurate. According to the empirical analysis using this indicator, energy efficiency is high in regions where population concentration has risen, as typified by "compact cities." As such, the book highlights the need to increase regional energy efficiency, to achieve regional economic growth despite growing environmental constraints, and the importance of forming and developing clusters to this end. The book is a valuable resource for planners, researchers and government employees. 410 0$aSpringerBriefs in Energy,$x2191-5520 606 $aEnergy efficiency 606 $aEnvironmental economics 606 $aRegional economics 606 $aSpatial economics 606 $aEconomic geography 606 $aEnergy Efficiency$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/118000 606 $aEnvironmental Economics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/W48000 606 $aRegional/Spatial Science$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/W49000 606 $aEconomic Geography$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/J12000 615 0$aEnergy efficiency. 615 0$aEnvironmental economics. 615 0$aRegional economics. 615 0$aSpatial economics. 615 0$aEconomic geography. 615 14$aEnergy Efficiency. 615 24$aEnvironmental Economics. 615 24$aRegional/Spatial Science. 615 24$aEconomic Geography. 676 $a333.790952 700 $aOtsuka$b Akihiro$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0852712 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910253977703321 996 $aRegional Energy Demand and Energy Efficiency in Japan$91998326 997 $aUNINA
