G. Don, commonly known as periwinkle. The anticancer alkaloids, viz. vinblastine and vincristine, are mainly present in the leaves of C. roseus and inhibit the growth of cancer cells by hindering the formation of mitotic apparatus during cell division. Further, vinblastine helps increase the chance of surviving childhood leukemia while vincristine is used to treat Hodgkin?s disease. Great efforts have been made to produce these alkaloids at a large scale by the culture of plant cells. In view of this worldwide demand for commercial use, this book explores how to maximize the production of anticancer alkaloids from C. roseus. This reference book will be helpful for research students, teachers, ethnobotanists, pharmacologists and herbal growers who have a strong interest in this anticancer medicinal plant of paramount importance. 606 $aPlant anatomy 606 $aPlant development 606 $aBiomedical engineering 606 $aPharmaceutical technology 606 $aPlant genetics 606 $aPlant breeding 606 $aPlant systematics 606 $aPlant taxonomy 606 $aPlant Anatomy/Development$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/L24019 606 $aBiomedical Engineering/Biotechnology$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/B24000 606 $aPharmaceutical Sciences/Technology$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/B21010 606 $aPlant Genetics and Genomics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/L32020 606 $aPlant Breeding/Biotechnology$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/L24060 606 $aPlant Systematics/Taxonomy/Biogeography$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/L24051 615 0$aPlant anatomy. 615 0$aPlant development. 615 0$aBiomedical engineering. 615 0$aPharmaceutical technology. 615 0$aPlant genetics. 615 0$aPlant breeding. 615 0$aPlant systematics. 615 0$aPlant taxonomy. 615 14$aPlant Anatomy/Development. 615 24$aBiomedical Engineering/Biotechnology. 615 24$aPharmaceutical Sciences/Technology. 615 24$aPlant Genetics and Genomics. 615 24$aPlant Breeding/Biotechnology. 615 24$aPlant Systematics/Taxonomy/Biogeography. 676 $a571.32 702 $aNaeem$b M$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aAftab$b Tariq$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aKhan$b M.
