In particular, Stevens focuses on schools in Cyprus, looking at the ethnic stereotypes that Greek and Turkish Cypriot students develop of each other and other ethnic groups, and the underlying social psychological and sociological factors that inform the development of these stereotypes. The book's findings show that the way in which Greek and Turkish Cypriots perceive themselves in ethnic terms influences their prejudice to various meaningful ethnic out-groups. In addition, Stevens sheds light on the importance of school policies and structural school features in developing ethnic stereotypes. The analysis also highlights the importance of young people's families and peer groups, and their participation in sports activities in developing prejudice to ethnic out-groups. 410 0$aMapping Global Racisms,$x2946-3149 606 $aEmigration and immigration 606 $aRace 606 $aSociology 606 $aCulture$xStudy and teaching 606 $aSocial structure 606 $aEquality 606 $aSocial groups 606 $aHuman Migration 606 $aRace and Ethnicity Studies 606 $aSociology 606 $aCultural Studies 606 $aSocial Structure 606 $aSociology of Family, Youth and Aging 615 0$aEmigration and immigration. 615 0$aRace. 615 0$aSociology. 615 0$aCulture$xStudy and teaching. 615 0$aSocial structure. 615 0$aEquality. 615 0$aSocial groups. 615 14$aHuman Migration. 615 24$aRace and Ethnicity Studies. 615 24$aSociology. 615 24$aCultural Studies. 615 24$aSocial Structure. 615 24$aSociology of Family, Youth and Aging. 676 $a305.80095693 686 $aSCI000000$2bisacsh 700 $aStevens$b P$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$01059660 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910253315803321 996 $aEthnicity and Racism in Cyprus$92507485 997 $aUNINA
