It has been the topic of a huge number of works by philosophers, anthropologists, linguists, psychologists, and computer scientists. As such, it has been early studied in artificial intelligence, with a particular renewal of interest in the last decade. The present volume provides a structured view of current research trends on computational approaches to analogical reasoning. It starts with an overview of the field, with an extensive bibliography. The 14 collected contributions cover a large scope of issues. First, the use of analogical proportions and analogies is explained and discussed in various natural language processing problems, as well as in automated deduction. Then, different formal frameworks for handling analogies are presented, dealing with case-based reasoning, heuristic-driven theory projection, commonsense reasoning about incomplete rule bases, logical proportions induced by similarity and dissimilarity indicators, and analogical proportions in lattice structures. Lastly, the volume reports case studies and discussions about the use of similarity judgments and the process of analogy making, at work in IQ tests, creativity or other cognitive tasks. This volume gathers fully revised and expanded versions of papers presented at an international workshop? as well as invited contributions. All chapters have benefited of a thorough peer review process. 410 0$aStudies in Computational Intelligence,$x1860-949X ;$v548 606 $aComputational intelligence 606 $aArtificial intelligence 606 $aComputational Intelligence$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/T11014 606 $aArtificial Intelligence$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/I21000 615 0$aComputational intelligence. 615 0$aArtificial intelligence. 615 14$aComputational Intelligence. 615 24$aArtificial Intelligence. 676 $a006.3 702 $aPrade$b Henri$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aRichard$b Gilles$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910299728103321 996 $aComputational Approaches to Analogical Reasoning: Current Trends$91946470 997 $aUNINA LEADER 04137oas 2200865 a 450 001 9910231848603321 005 20251105213014.0 011 $a1753-8955 035 $a(OCoLC)154678301 035 $a(CONSER) 2007213202 035 $a(CKB)1000000000281028 035 $a(DE-599)ZDB2410527-2 035 $a(EXLCZ)991000000000281028 100 $a20070712a20089999 uy a 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurcnu|||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 00$aInternational journal of Digital Earth 210 $aAbingdon $cTaylor & Francis$d[2008-] 215 $a1 online resource $cillustrations 300 $aRefereed/Peer-reviewed 311 08$a1753-8947 330 $a"'International Journal of Digital Earth' is a journal focusing on the theories, technologies, applications and societal implications of Digital Earth. It is the official journal of the International Society for Digital Earth. The journal is a response to the Digital Earth initiative and its aim to improve social conditions, protect the environment, and support future sustainable development. 'International Journal of Digital Earth' welcomes papers that : progress visions for Digital Earth frameworks, policies, and standard ; explore geographically referenced 3D, 4D, or 5D models to represent the real planet, and geo-data-intensive science and discovery ; develop methods that turn all forms of geo-referenced data, from scientific to social, into useful information that can be analyzed, visualized, and shared ; present innovative, operational applications and pilots of Digital Earth technologies at a local, national, regional, and global level ; expand the role of Digital Earth in the fields of Earth science, including climate change, adaptation and health related issues, natural disasters, new energy sources, agricultural and food security, and urban planning ; foster the use of web-based public-domain platforms, social networks, and location-based services for the sharing of digital data, models, and information about the virtual Earth ; explore the role of social media and citizen-provided data in generating geo-referenced information in the spatial sciences and technologies."--taken from Taylor and Francis Online web site viewed May 18, 2023. 606 $aGlobal environmental change$xResearch$vPeriodicals 606 $aGlobal environmental change$xRemote sensing$vPeriodicals 606 $aGeographic information systems$vPeriodicals 606 $aChangement global (Environnement)$xRecherche$vPe?riodiques 606 $aChangement global (Environnement)$xTe?le?de?tection$vPe?riodiques 606 $aGeographic information systems$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00940423 606 $aGlobal environmental change$xResearch$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00943486 608 $aPeriodical. 608 $aInternet resource. 608 $aperiodicals.$2aat 608 $aPeriodicals.$2fast 608 $aPeriodicals.$2lcgft 608 $aPe?riodiques.$2rvmgf 615 0$aGlobal environmental change$xResearch 615 0$aGlobal environmental change$xRemote sensing 615 0$aGeographic information systems 615 6$aChangement global (Environnement)$xRecherche 615 6$aChangement global (Environnement)$xTe?le?de?tection 615 7$aGeographic information systems. 615 7$aGlobal environmental change$xResearch. 676 $a363 712 02$aInternational Society for Digital Earth. 801 0$bNSD 801 1$bNSD 801 2$bBUF 801 2$bNSD 801 2$bLGG 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bUKMGB 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bAGL 801 2$bOCLCO 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bNLE 801 2$bOCLCF 801 2$bAU@ 801 2$bDLC 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bOCLCO 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bSFB 801 2$bCUV 801 2$bDXU 801 2$bUAB 801 2$bOCLCL 801 2$bOCLCQ 906 $aJOURNAL 912 $a9910231848603321 996 $aInternational journal of digital earth$92367105 997 $aUNINA
