Raised in segregated Washington, DC, by his mother, a hairdresser and entrepreneur with little formal education, Savage''s career has taken him around the world as a globetrotting financier. From his first banking job at Citibank to his current position as Chairman Emeritus of Howard University, The Savage Way shares the life and business lessons he learned along the way. This memoir relates the many starts and stops, successes and failures in his long career, from his involvement in the coll 606 $aCapitalists and financiers$zUnited States$vBiography 606 $aBusinessmen$zUnited States$vBiography 615 0$aCapitalists and financiers 615 0$aBusinessmen 676 $a332.1092 676 $aB 700 $aSavage$b Frank$0864503 701 $aCosby$b Bill$f1937-$01118666 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910141520803321 996 $aThe Savage way$92878584 997 $aUNINA LEADER 02522nam 2200421z- 450 001 9910227348903321 005 20210212 035 $a(CKB)4100000000883844 035 $a(oapen)https://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/57918 035 $a(oapen)doab57918 035 $a(EXLCZ)994100000000883844 100 $a20202102d2017 |y 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurmn|---annan 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 00$aRedox Regulation in Skeletal Muscle Aging and Exercise 210 $cFrontiers Media SA$d2017 215 $a1 online resource (101 p.) 225 1 $aFrontiers Research Topics 311 08$a2-88945-196-8 330 $aSkeletal muscle represents the largest organ of the human body and comprises about 40% of total body mass in humans. Even in people who 'age well', there is a noticeable loss of muscle strength and function that accelerates dramatically after the age of 60, a major factor in the reduction in life quality for the aging population. One of the most effective interventions to maintain muscle mass and function is through exercise. Skeletal muscle generates reactive oxygen and reactive nitrogen (ROS/RNS) species in response to muscle contractions. The concentration and species of ROS/RNS generated can depend on the age and fitness of the individual, muscle fibre type and the intensity of the muscle contractions. ROS/RNS generate unique signaling cascades that are not only essential in skeletal muscle contraction and adaptation but also play a role in a wide array of cell processes including cell proliferation, protein synthesis/degradation, immune response and antioxidant defense. ROS/RNS generated by contractions are involved in a co-ordinated local response that is tightly controlled at all levels from generation to detoxification. This collection of original articles and reviews highlights investigations that measure different aspects of the redox response of skeletal muscle to aging and exercise. 606 $aPhysiology$2bicssc 610 $aCalveolin-3 610 $aMitochondria 610 $aMuscle Fatigue 610 $aNADPH Oxidase 610 $asirt3 610 $asphingomyelinase 610 $aSternohyoid muscle 610 $auremic myopathy 615 7$aPhysiology 700 $aBrian McDonagh$4auth$01313336 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910227348903321 996 $aRedox Regulation in Skeletal Muscle Aging and Exercise$93031301 997 $aUNINA
