It is a strategy to deal with a core security challenge: the transformation of conflicts and, in particular, regional conflicts. Yet to what extent has the promotion of regional integration been successful in transforming conflicts? What can we regard as the core mechanisms of such an impact? This volume offers a comprehensive assessment of the nexus between promoting integration and conflict transformation. The authors systematically compare the consequences of EU involvement in eight conflicts in four world regions within a common framework. In doing so, they focus on the promotion of integration as a preventative strategy to avoid conflicts turning violent and as a long-term strategy to transform violent conflicts by placing them in a broader institutional context. The book will be of use to students and scholars interested in European foreign policy, comparative regionalism, and conflict resolution. . 410 0$aPalgrave Studies in European Union Politics,$x2662-5873 606 $aEuropean Union 606 $aInternational organization 606 $aComparative politics 606 $aRegionalism 606 $aEuropean Union Politics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/911140 606 $aInternational Organization$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/912010 606 $aComparative Politics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/911040 606 $aRegionalism$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/912050 615 0$aEuropean Union. 615 0$aInternational organization. 615 0$aComparative politics. 615 0$aRegionalism. 615 14$aEuropean Union Politics. 615 24$aInternational Organization. 615 24$aComparative Politics. 615 24$aRegionalism. 676 $a320.94 702 $aDiez$b Thomas$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aTocci$b Nathalie$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910164982903321 996 $aThe EU, Promoting Regional Integration, and Conflict Resolution$92177073 997 $aUNINA
