Muhsin al-Am?n was born in ?aqr??, a village of ?abal ??mil (South Lebanon today). In 1901, he settled in Damascus, where he came to be regarded as one of the spiritual leaders of the S??? community in Bil?d al-Sâm. Am?n established there a religious school, he undertook the organization of worship and produced numerous works. His primary aim was to reform society, to increase its conformity to the law, as well as its capacity to face the challenges of European modernity. This life story is taken from Am?n's monumental bio-bibliographical dictionary, A ?y?n al-????. It pictures the steps of a scholar in the quest of knowledge, brings forward several aspects of Am?n's teaching, and gives evidence of the turbulence of his times. This book gets its specific flavour from the telling of small incidents and of everyday practices ? rural in ?abal ??mil, urban in Na?af and Damascus ? that Am?n experienced himself. ??? ????? ???? ?????? ?? ????? ??? ???? ?? ??? ??? ????(????? ??????? ?????). ??? ??? ? ? ? ? ????? ?? ???? ??? ??? ???? ????? ?? ????? ??????? ??????? ?? ???? ????? ? ??? ???? ??? ????? ????? ???? ?????? ?????? ???????? 410 0$aPublications de l'I.F.E.A.D. ;$vno 172. 606 $aShiites$zLebanon$z??mil Mountains Region$vBiography 606 $aReligion$2HILCC 606 $aPhilosophy & Religion$2HILCC 606 $aIslam$2HILCC 607 $a??mil Mountains Region (Lebanon)$vBiography 610 $aislam 610 $aNajaf 610 $aSud Liban 610 $aDamas 610 $aautobiographie 610 $aréformisme chiite 610 $achiisme 610 $a?abal ??mil 615 0$aShiites 615 7$aReligion 615 7$aPhilosophy & Religion 615 7$aIslam 676 $a297.8/2/092 676 $aB 700 $a??mil?$b Mu?sin al-?usayn?$f1865-1952,$0937606 702 $aMervin$b Sabrina 702 $aAm?n$b Haytham 801 0$bDLC 801 1$bDLC 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bNLGGC 801 2$bUkMaJRU 912 $a9910132288503321 996 $aAutobiographie d'un clerc chiite du ?abal ??mil$92111929 997 $aUNINA LEADER 02515nim 2200469Ka 450 001 9910159493903321 005 20250904100108.5 010 $a1-5159-9388-4 035 $a(CKB)3710000001019800 035 $a(BIP)060405323 035 $a(ODN)ODN0003136041 035 $a(EXLCZ)993710000001019800 100 $a20170207d2017 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $auruna---||||| 181 $cspw$2rdacontent 182 $cs$2rdamedia 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aAge of anger $eA history of the present. /$fPankaj Mishra 205 $aUnabridged. 210 $aOld Saybrook $cTantor Media$d2017 215 $a1 online resource (14 audio files) $cdigital 300 $aUnabridged. 330 $aHow can we explain the origins of the great wave of paranoid hatreds that seem inescapable in our close-knit world?from American shooters and ISIS to Donald Trump, from a rise in vengeful nationalism to racism and misogyny on social media? In Age of Anger , Pankaj Mishra answers our bewilderment by casting his gaze back to the eighteenth century before leading us to the present. As the world became modern, those who were unable to enjoy its promises of freedom, stability, and prosperity were increasingly susceptible to demagogues. It was from among the ranks of the disaffected that the militants of the nineteenth century arose?angry young men who became cultural nationalists in Germany, messianic revolutionaries in Russia, bellicose chauvinists in Italy, and anarchist terrorists internationally. Today, just as then, the embrace of mass politics and technology and the pursuit of wealth and individualism have cast many more billions adrift, uprooted from tradition but still far from modernity?with the same terrible results. Making startling connections and comparisons, Age of Anger is a book of immense urgency and profound argument. It is a history of our present predicament unlike any other. 517 $aAge of Anger 606 $aNonfiction$2OverDrive 606 $aHistory$2OverDrive 606 $aPolitics$2OverDrive 606 $aPsychology$2OverDrive 615 17$aNonfiction. 615 7$aHistory. 615 7$aPolitics. 615 7$aPsychology. 676 $a909.09821 686 $aHIS000000$aHIS037000$aPOL010000$2bisacsh 700 $aMishra$b Pankaj$0695463 702 $aPerkins$b Derek$f1956-$4nrt 906 $aAUDIO 912 $a9910159493903321 996 $aAge of anger$91524469 997 $aUNINA
