It considers such practices as contributions, fire-raids, and blockades before sieges. The author relies extensively on archival sources, and in many cases explores events that have been passed over by similar studies. Louis XIV and his generals used partisan warfare to fit a strategy of exhaustion to ensure territorial conquest. The French army's reliance on partisan warfare reveals the limitations of the war-making potential of Louis XIV's state; at the same time it leads to the emergence of a more modern practice of military operations to pursue theater-strategic objectives. 410 0$aHistory of Warfare ;$v18. 517 3 $aThe Army of Louis XIV and Partisan Warfare in the Netherlands (1673-1678) 606 $aDiplomatic relations 606 $aDutch War, 1672-1678 607 $aFrance$xForeign relations$y1643-1715 607 $aFrance$xHistory$yLouis XIV, 1643-1715 607 $aFrance$xHistory, Military 607 $aNetherlands$xHistory$y1648-1714 615 0$aDiplomatic relations. 615 0$aDutch War, 1672-1678. 676 $a949.2/04 700 $aSatterfield$b George$0877519 801 0$bNL-LeKB 801 1$bNL-LeKB 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910783471203321 996 $aPrinces, posts and partisans$91959551 997 $aUNINA LEADER 04811nam 2200637 450 001 9910820758103321 005 20230124192628.0 010 $a0-309-26216-X 010 $a0-309-26214-3 035 $a(CKB)3710000000103221 035 $a(EBL)3379079 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000789090 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)12327979 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000789090 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10724188 035 $a(PQKB)11307531 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC3379079 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL3379079 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebr10863727 035 $a(OCoLC)923287609 035 $a(EXLCZ)993710000000103221 100 $a20130429h20122012 uy| 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurcnu|||||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 10$aAssuring the U.S. Department of Defense a strong science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) workforce /$fCommittee on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Workforce Needs for the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Defense Industrial Base, Division on Engineering and Physical Sciences with Board on Higher Education and Workforce, Division on Policy and Global Affairs, National Academy of Engineering and National Research Council of the National Academies 210 1$aWashington, District of Columbia :$cNational Academies Press,$d[2012] 210 4$d©2012 215 $a1 online resource (155 p.) 300 $a"The committee preparing this report, the Committee on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Workforce Needs for the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Defense Industrial Base, initially convened a workshop on August 1 and 2, 2011, in Rosslyn, Virginia, for the purpose of gathering a broad range of views from the public sector and the private sector, including major defense contractors, and from nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), all of which are stakeholders in the future STEM workforce. A workforce with robust Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) capabilities is critical to sustaining U.S. preeminence. Today, however, the STEM activities of the Department of Defense (DOD) are a small and diminishing part of the nation's overall science and engineering enterprise. Assuring the U.S. Department of Defense a Strong Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Workforce presents five principal recommendations for attracting, retaining, and managing highly qualified STEM talent within the department based on an examination of the current STEM workforce of DOD and the defense industrial base. As outlined in the report, DOD should focus its investments to ensure that STEM competencies in all potentially critical, emerging topical areas are maintained at least at a basic level within the department and its industrial and university bases."--Publisher's description. 606 $aMilitary engineering$vCongresses 606 $aArmed Forces$xVocational guidance$vCongresses 606 $aMilitary education$zUnited States$vCongresses 606 $aEmployment forecasting$zUnited States$vCongresses 606 $aScience$zUnited States$vCongresses 615 0$aMilitary engineering 615 0$aArmed Forces$xVocational guidance 615 0$aMilitary education 615 0$aEmployment forecasting 615 0$aScience 676 $a355.54 712 02$aNational Research Council (U.S.), 712 12$aWorkshop on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Workforce Needs for the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Defense Industrial Base$f(August 1-2, 2011 :$eRosslyn, VA), 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910820758103321 996 $aAssuring the U.S. Department of Defense a strong science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) workforce$93979225 997 $aUNINA LEADER 04105nam 2200769 450 001 9910823158303321 005 20230526184642.0 010 $a1-5261-3186-2 024 7 $a10.7765/9781526131867 035 $a(CKB)4100000007746049 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC5720107 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL5720107 035 $a(OCoLC)1088892093 035 $a(MdBmJHUP)musev2_78514 035 $a(UkMaJRU)992979890716301631 035 $a(DE-B1597)659097 035 $a(DE-B1597)9781526131867 035 $a(PPN)24020414X 035 $a(EXLCZ)994100000007746049 100 $a20191220h20192019 uy| 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur||#---||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 04$aThe European Union in the Asia-Pacific $erethinking Europe's strategies and policies /$fedited by Weiqing Song, Jianwei Wang 210 1$aManchester, UK :$cManchester University Press,$d2019. 210 4$d©2019 215 $a1 online resource (xvi, 220 pages) $cillustrations; digital file(s) 311 $a1-5261-3187-0 311 $a1-5261-3185-4 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references and index. 327 $aThe European Union in the Asia-Pacific: strategic reflections / Michael Reiterer -- A European pivot towards Asia? Over the past decades, big changes have taken place on both sides and the wider world. It's high time to evaluate the EU's performance in its Asian policy. In fact, the EU is at crossroads with its Asia Pacific policy. On several aspects, the EU is compelled to redefine its interests and roles, and rethink its strategies and policies towards the dynamic and ever important Asia Pacific region. This volume addresses this theme, by elaborating the general context, major issues and countries in the EU's Asia Pacific policy. It covers issue areas of traditional security, economy and trade, public diplomacy, and human security and focuses on the EU's relations with China, Japan, the ASEAN countries, and Australasia 606 $aPolitics$2mup 606 $aInternational Relations$2bicssc 606 $aPOLITICAL SCIENCE / International Relations / General$2bisach 607 $aPacific Area$2fast 607 $aEuropean Union countries$2fast 607 $aAsia$2fast 607 $aAsia 607 $aPacific Area$xForeign relations$zEuropean Union countries 607 $aEuropean Union countries$xForeign relations$zPacific Area 607 $aEuropean Union countries$xForeign relations$zAsia 610 $aASEAN. 610 $aAsia Pacific. 610 $aAsia-Pacific. 610 $aAustralasia. 610 $aChina. 610 $aEuropean Foreign and Security Policy. 610 $aEuropean Union. 610 $aForeign Policy. 610 $aGlobal strategy. 610 $aInter-regionalism. 610 $aJapan. 610 $aStrategic partnership. 615 7$aPolitics 615 7$aInternational Relations 615 7$aPOLITICAL SCIENCE / International Relations / General 676 $a327.405 702 $aWang$b Jianwei 702 $aSong$b Weiqing$f1969- 801 2$bUkMaJRU 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910823158303321 996 $aThe European Union in the Asia-Pacific$94014412 997 $aUNINA
