Available for the first time in English, the 1905 edition of Three Essays on the Theory of Sexuality presents Sigmund Freud's thought in a form new to all but a few ardent students of his work. This is a Freud absent the Oedipal complex, which came to dominate his ideas and subsequent editions of these essays. In its stead is an autoerotic theory of sexual development, a sexuality transcending binary categorization. This is psychoanalysis freed from ideas that have often brought it into conflict with the ethical and political convictions of modern readers, practitioners, and theorists. The non-Oedipal psychoanalysis Freud outlined in 1905 possesses an emancipatory potential for the contemporary world that promises to revitalize Freudian thought. The development of self is no longer rooted in the assumption of a sexual identity; instead the imposition of sexual categories on the infant mind becomes a source of neurosis and itself a problem to overcome. The new edition of Three Essays presents us with the fascinating possibility that Freud suppressed his first and best thoughts on this topic, and that only today can they be recognized and understood at a time when societies have begun the serious work of reconceptualizing sexual identities"--$cProvided by publisher. 330 $a"The traditional story about the historical origins of Freudian psychoanalysis implies that the Oedipus complex was part of Freudian theory from the very beginning. However, in this first edition of Three Essays on Sexuality, first published in 1905 and never before translated into English, we find no reference whatsoever to the Oedipus complex. Is there a Freudian psychoanalysis that is not Oedipal? This first version of Freud's Three Essays articulates just such a non-Oedipal psychoanalysis. As such, it still has a definite 'emancipatory' potential; Freudian psychoanalysis is not Oedipal in its very nature. It is only from 1909 onwards that psychoanalysis tends to become a sophisticated defence of what Freud first called the 'popular opinion' about sexuality. It was precisely this 'popular opinion' that psychoanalysis originally was meant to deconstruct. Is there a Freudian escape - that is an escape that remains not so much within Freudian orthodoxy, but at least within its inspiration - from this impasse? If Freud has respected more systematically his own original thesis, could it be that the Oedipus complex wouldn't be the shibboleth of psychoanalysis? Not only is this first edition less Oedipal than is generally believed, but it also contains the elements for thinking a 'non-Oedipal' psychoanalysis; a Freud against Oedipus"--$cProvided by publisher. 606 $aSex (Psychology) 606 $aPsychoanalysis 615 0$aSex (Psychology) 615 0$aPsychoanalysis. 676 $a306.701 686 $aPSY016000$aPSY026000$aPSY031000$2bisacsh 700 $aFreud$b Sigmund$f1856-1939,$0128716 702 $aKistner$b Ulrike 702 $aHaute$b Philippe van$f1957- 702 $aWesterink$b Herman$f1968- 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910157797903321 996 $aThree essays on the theory of sexuality$93659873 997 $aUNINA LEADER 04681nam 2201177z- 450 001 9910346677003321 005 20210211 035 $a(CKB)4920000000094897 035 $a(oapen)https://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/43698 035 $a(oapen)doab43698 035 $a(EXLCZ)994920000000094897 100 $a20202102d2019 |y 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurmn|---annan 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 00$aComputational Aerodynamic Modeling of Aerospace Vehicles 210 $cMDPI - Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute$d2019 215 $a1 online resource (294 p.) 311 08$a3-03897-610-5 330 $aCurrently, the use of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) solutions is considered as the state-of-the-art in the modeling of unsteady nonlinear flow physics and offers an early and improved understanding of air vehicle aerodynamics and stability and control characteristics. This Special Issue covers recent computational efforts on simulation of aerospace vehicles including fighter aircraft, rotorcraft, propeller driven vehicles, unmanned vehicle, projectiles, and air drop configurations. The complex flow physics of these configurations pose significant challenges in CFD modeling. Some of these challenges include prediction of vortical flows and shock waves, rapid maneuvering aircraft with fast moving control surfaces, and interactions between propellers and wing, fluid and structure, boundary layer and shock waves. Additional topic of interest in this Special Issue is the use of CFD tools in aircraft design and flight mechanics. The problem with these applications is the computational cost involved, particularly if this is viewed as a brute-force calculation of vehicle's aerodynamics through its flight envelope. To make progress in routinely using of CFD in aircraft design, methods based on sampling, model updating and system identification should be considered. 606 $aHistory of engineering and technology$2bicssc 610 $aaerodynamic performance 610 $aaerodynamics 610 $aaeroelasticity 610 $aafter-body 610 $aangle of attack 610 $abifurcation 610 $abluff body 610 $aCFD 610 $acharacteristics-based scheme 610 $achemistry 610 $acomputational fluid dynamics 610 $acomputational fluid dynamics (CFD) 610 $aconvolution integral 610 $aCPACS 610 $aDDES 610 $adetection 610 $adiscontinuous Galerkin finite element method (DG-FEM) 610 $adynamic Smagorinsky subgrid-scale model 610 $aEuler 610 $aflexible wings 610 $aflow control 610 $aflow distortion 610 $afluid mechanics 610 $aflutter 610 $aformation 610 $agasdynamics 610 $ageometry 610 $aGodunov method 610 $ahigh angles of attack 610 $ahybrid reduced-order model 610 $ahypersonic 610 $ainstalled propeller 610 $akinetic energy dissipation 610 $alarge eddy simulation 610 $aMDO 610 $ameshing 610 $amicroelectromechanical systems (MEMS) 610 $amicrofluidics 610 $amodeling 610 $amodified equation analysis 610 $amulti-directional 610 $amulti-fidelity 610 $aMUSCL 610 $aneural networks 610 $anumerical dissipation 610 $anumerical methods 610 $aoverset grid approach 610 $ap-factor 610 $aquasi-analytical 610 $aRANS 610 $areduced order aerodynamic model 610 $areduced-order model 610 $aRiemann solver 610 $aS-duct diffuser 610 $asharp-edge gust 610 $ashock-channel 610 $aslender-body 610 $asquare cylinder 610 $asubsonic 610 $aTaylor-Green vortex 610 $atruncation error 610 $aturbulence model 610 $aunsteady aerodynamic characteristics 610 $aURANS 610 $avariable fidelity 610 $aVLM 610 $avortex generators 610 $awake 610 $awind gust responses 610 $awind tunnel 610 $awing-propeller aerodynamic interaction 615 7$aHistory of engineering and technology 700 $aJenkins$b Karl$4auth$01320432 702 $aGhoreyshi$b Mehdi$4auth 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910346677003321 996 $aComputational Aerodynamic Modeling of Aerospace Vehicles$93034300 997 $aUNINA
