The manual provides the terms and phrases in alphabetical order, followed by a concise English definition, then a translation of the term in Portuguese and, finally, an interpretation or translation of the term or phrase in Portuguese. Following the Portuguese translations section, the columns are reversed and reordered alphabetically in Portuguese with the English term and translation following the Portuguese term or phrase. The objective is to provide a Technical Term Reference manual for non-English speaking students and engineers who are familiar with Portuguese, but uncomfortable with English and to provide a similar reference for English speaking students and engineers working in an area of the world where the Portuguese language predominates. 410 0$aEnvironmental engineering collection.$x2375-3633 606 $aEnvironmental engineering$vDictionaries$xEnglish 606 $aEnvironmental engineering$vDictionaries$xPortuguese 608 $aLibros electronicos. 610 $aEnglish to Portuguese translator 610 $aPortuguese to English translator 610 $atechnical term translator 610 $atranslator 615 0$aEnvironmental engineering$xEnglish. 615 0$aEnvironmental engineering$xPortuguese. 676 $a628.03 700 $aHopcroft$b Francis J.$01085985 702 $aTavares$b Sarah 801 0$bFINmELB 801 1$bFINmELB 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910157362803321 996 $aEnvironmental engineering dictionary of technical terms and phrases$92602811 997 $aUNINA LEADER 04268nam 2200733Ia 450 001 9910963960303321 005 20240416155008.0 010 $a9780674075931 010 $a0674075935 010 $a9780674075917 010 $a0674075919 024 7 $a10.4159/harvard.9780674075917 035 $a(CKB)2550000001038973 035 $a(StDuBDS)AH25018217 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000835706 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11516241 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000835706 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10997716 035 $a(PQKB)10729804 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC3301239 035 $a(DE-B1597)209847 035 $a(OCoLC)828868940 035 $a(OCoLC)979739987 035 $a(DE-B1597)9780674075917 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL3301239 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebr10664495 035 $a(Perlego)1148053 035 $a(EXLCZ)992550000001038973 100 $a20120910d2013 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur||||||||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 10$aMaking toleration $ethe repealers and the Glorious Revolution /$fScott Sowerby 205 $a1st ed. 210 $aCambridge, Mass. $cHarvard University Press$d2013 215 $a1 online resource (404 p.) 225 1 $aHarvard historical studies ;$v181 300 $aFormerly CIP.$5Uk 311 08$a9780674073098 311 08$a0674073096 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references and index. 327 $t Frontmatter -- $tContents -- $tNote to Readers -- $tIntroduction -- $t1. Known as repealers, these reformers aimed to convince Parliament to repeal laws that penalized worshippers who failed to conform to the doctrines of the Church of England. Although the movement was destroyed by the Glorious Revolution, it profoundly influenced the post-revolutionary settlement, helping to develop the ideals of tolerance that would define the European Enlightenment. Based on a rich array of newly discovered archival sources, Scott Sowerby's groundbreaking history rescues the repealers from undeserved obscurity, telling the forgotten story of men and women who stood up for their beliefs at a formative moment in British history. By restoring the repealer movement to its rightful prominence, Making Toleration also overturns traditional interpretations of King James II's reign and the origins of the Glorious Revolution. Though often depicted as a despot who sought to impose his own Catholic faith on a Protestant people, James is revealed as a man ahead of his time, a king who pressed for religious toleration at the expense of his throne. The Glorious Revolution, Sowerby finds, was not primarily a crisis provoked by political repression. It was, in fact, a conservative counter-revolution against the movement for enlightened reform that James himself encouraged and sustained. 410 0$aHarvard historical studies ;$vv. 181. 606 $aReligion and politics$zGreat Britain$xHistory$y17th century 606 $aReligion and state$zEngland$xHistory$y17th century 606 $aReligious tolerance$zEngland$xHistory$y17th century 607 $aGreat Britain$xHistory$yJames II, 1685-1688 607 $aGreat Britain$xHistory$yRevolution of 1688 607 $aGreat Britain$xPolitics and government$y1660-1714 615 0$aReligion and politics$xHistory 615 0$aReligion and state$xHistory 615 0$aReligious tolerance$xHistory 676 $a274.107 700 $aSowerby$b Scott$f1973-$01805579 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910963960303321 996 $aMaking toleration$94354255 997 $aUNINA LEADER 02613nam 2200589 a 450 001 9910963526103321 005 20240516113123.0 010 $a9781587299803 010 $a1587299801 035 $a(CKB)2550000000035337 035 $a(EBL)843339 035 $a(OCoLC)727367664 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000525960 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11358447 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000525960 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10508992 035 $a(PQKB)10847669 035 $a(MdBmJHUP)muse8981 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL843339 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebr10468990 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC843339 035 $a(Perlego)2958328 035 $a(EXLCZ)992550000000035337 100 $a20100930d2011 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur|n|---||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 10$aSupplement to "Walt Whitman, a descriptive bibliography" /$fby Joel Myerson 205 $a1st ed. 210 $aIowa City $cUniversity of Iowa Press$d2011 215 $a1 online resource (146 p.) 225 1 $aIowa Whitman series,$x1556-5610 300 $aDescription based upon print version of record. 311 08$a9781587299797 311 08$a1587299798 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references and index. 327 $aIntroduction -- Separate publications -- Collected editions -- Miscellaneous collections -- First book and pamphlet appearances -- First-appearance contributions to magazines and newspapers -- Proof copies, circulars, and broadsides -- Reprinted material in books and pamphlets -- Separate publication of individual poems and prose works -- Compiler's notes -- Index. 330 $a Focusing on actual publications by Whitman rather than those about him, Joel Myerson's painstakingly compiled supplement to his 1993 Walt Whitman: A Descriptive Bibliography (Oak Knoll, ISBN 0-82293-739-5) includes almost twenty years of newly discovered and updated materials that will be invaluable to Whitman scholars.
