ATP-gated P2X receptors are expressed by neurons, glial and many other non-neuronal cells and represent an attractive target for therapeutic interventions. Diverse molecular and cellular mechanisms have been identified for P2X receptor functioning, including the ability to enlarge the size of the ion pore associated with the release of several key immune molecules. A major recent breakthrough was the determination of the X-ray crystal structures of zebrafish P2X4 receptor in ATP-bound and ATP-free states. The P2X receptor research field is rapidly growing, as evidenced by the almost 2000 papers published in the last 5 years. However, despite the fundamental signalling function of extracellular ATP in the nervous system, the widespread roles of P2X receptors have not been widely elucidated and presented in textbooks. In this volume of papers we aim to gather a collection of high quality papers, detailing the latest insights from the most accomplished international P2X receptor researchers. Importantly, basic research into P2X receptors has a strong translational impact and our collection of articles could be a valuable guide for the development of new pharmacological and biotechnological tools addressing the function of P2X receptors. Within this collection we plan to cover receptor structure-function relationships, receptors trafficking, to highlight the special properties of P2X receptors and their pharmacological profiles, and to describe the translational aspects of cellular ATP signaling in pain and in other neurological and vascular diseases. 606 $aNeurology 606 $aNeurotransmitters 606 $aMedicine 606 $aNeurology$2HILCC 606 $aMedicine$2HILCC 606 $aHealth & Biological Sciences$2HILCC 615 0$aNeurology. 615 0$aNeurotransmitters. 615 0$aMedicine. 615 7$aNeurology 615 7$aMedicine 615 7$aHealth & Biological Sciences 702 $aKhakh$b Baljit S. 702 $aNistri$b Andrea 702 $aBurnstock$b Geoffrey 702 $aGiniatullin$b Rashid 801 0$bPQKB 801 2$bUkMaJRU 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910137204703321 996 $aATP-gated P2X receptors in health and disease$91934871 997 $aUNINA LEADER 02065nam 22004213u 450 001 9910156529503321 005 20230803015838.0 010 $a9957-65-793-3 035 $a(CKB)3820000000026344 035 $a(EBL)3354172 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC3354172 035 $a(EXLCZ)993820000000026344 100 $a20160425d2013|||| u|| | 101 0 $aara 135 $aur|n|---||||| 200 10$a???????$b[electronic resource] $e????? ?????? 210 $a?????? $c???? ?????? ?????????$d2013 215 $a1 online resource (554 p.) 300 $aDescription based upon print version of record. 327 $a??????; ???? ??????? 606 $a880-05 -- Fīrūzābādī al-Shīrāzī, Abū Isḥāq Ibrāhīm ibn ʿAlī ibn Yūsuf, -- approximately 1003-1083. -- Muhadhab. -- 1966 606 $aISLAMIC JURISPRUDENCE -- SHAFII JURISPRUDENCE -- HADITH -- HADITH EXEGESIS -- PRAYERS -- MUSLIM JURISCONSULTS -- TAYAMMUM -- MINSTRUATION 606 $aIslamic law -- Early works to 1800 606 $aShafiites -- Early works to 1800 615 4$a880-05 -- Fīrūzābādī al-Shīrāzī, Abū Isḥāq Ibrāhīm ibn ʿAlī ibn Yūsuf, -- approximately 1003-1083. -- Muhadhab. -- 1966. 615 4$aISLAMIC JURISPRUDENCE -- SHAFII JURISPRUDENCE -- HADITH -- HADITH EXEGESIS -- PRAYERS -- MUSLIM JURISCONSULTS -- TAYAMMUM -- MINSTRUATION. 615 4$aIslamic law -- Early works to 1800. 615 4$aShafiites -- Early works to 1800. 676 $a267.3 700 $a??$b ?????? ? ???? ????? ??? ?????? ???? ?? ??? ?? ??? ??????? ? 631 - 677$01374476 701 $a??????$b ????$01249744 801 0$bAU-PeEL 801 1$bAU-PeEL 801 2$bAU-PeEL 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910156529503321 996 $a???????$93407699 997 $aUNINA
