Through her examination of a wide range of medieval sources, Askari demonstrates that Firdaus??s oeuvre was primarily understood as a book of wisdom and advice for kings and courtly elites. In order to illustrate the ways in which the Sh?hn?ma functions as a mirror for princes, Askari analyses the account about Ardash?r, the founder of the Sasanian dynasty, as an ideal king in the Sh?hn?ma . Within this context, she explains why the idea of the union of kingship and religion, a major topic in almost all medieval Persian mirrors for princes, has often been attributed to Ardash?r. 410 0$aStudies in Persian cultural history ;$vVolume 9. 606 $aPersian poetry$y747-1500 606 $aEpic poetry, Persian$xHistory and criticism 615 0$aPersian poetry 615 0$aEpic poetry, Persian$xHistory and criticism. 676 $a891/.5511 700 $aAskari$b Nasrin$01594237 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910816366703321 996 $aThe medieval reception of the Shahnama as a mirror for princes$93914720 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01535nas 2200457-a 450 001 9910896795403321 005 20240413015736.0 011 $a2669-6371 035 $a(CKB)5590000000000757 035 $a(CONSER)sn-84046015- 035 $a(EXLCZ)995590000000000757 100 $a20751101b19571964 --- b 101 0 $afre 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aBulletin trimestriel 210 $aParis $cCentre international d'études romanes$d1957-1964 215 $a1 online resource 311 08$aPrint version: Bulletin trimestriel (Centre international d'études romanes) 2019-403X (DLC)sn 84046015 (OCoLC)1776254 606 $aChristian antiquities$vPeriodicals 606 $aArt, Romanesque$vPeriodicals 606 $aCivilization, Medieval$vPeriodicals 606 $aArt, Romanesque$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00816818 606 $aChristian antiquities$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00858898 606 $aCivilization, Medieval$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00863049 608 $aPeriodicals.$2fast 608 $aPeriodicals.$2lcgft 615 0$aChristian antiquities 615 0$aArt, Romanesque 615 0$aCivilization, Medieval 615 7$aArt, Romanesque. 615 7$aChristian antiquities. 615 7$aCivilization, Medieval. 676 $a709.14 712 02$aCentre international d'études romanes, 906 $aJOURNAL 912 $a9910896795403321 920 $aexl_impl conversion 996 $aBulletin trimestriel$91948250 997 $aUNINA
