The purpose is to determine what view of the Canadian Indian writers were extending in the popular national magazines, and to suggest attitudes and changes in attitudes during these seven decades. It is hoped that this endeavor will not only suggest the shape and form of concepts of the Indians as they were portrayed for the Canadian reader but that the detailed content description of each essay, as well as the bibliography compiled will be of assistance to later researchers in choosing their material and in encouraging future studies on Canadian Indians. 410 0$aWLU monograph series ;$vno. 1. 606 $aIndians of North America$zCanada 606 $aIndians in literature 606 $aCanadian periodicals 606 $aIndians of North America$xEthnic identity$zCanada 615 0$aIndians of North America 615 0$aIndians in literature. 615 0$aCanadian periodicals. 615 0$aIndians of North America$xEthnic identity 676 $a971.004/97 700 $aHaycock$b Ronald$01231106 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910154733303321 996 $aThe image of the Indian$94186802 997 $aUNINA
