Concluding remarks. 330 3 $aMixtec Evangelicals is a comparative ethnography of four Mixtec communities in Oaxaca, detailing the process by which economic migration and religious conversion combine to change the social and cultural makeup of predominantly folk-Catholic communities. The book describes the effects on the home communities of the Mixtecs who travel to northern Mexico and the United States in search of wage labor and return having converted from their rural Catholic roots to Evangelical Protestant religions. O?Connor demonstrates the ways that neoliberal policies have forced Mixtecs to migrate and how migration provides the contexts for conversion. Converts challenge the set of customs governing their Mixtec villages by refusing to participate in the Catholic ceremonies and social gatherings that are at the center of traditional village life. Home communities have responded in a number of ways?ranging from expulsion of converts to partial acceptance and adjustments within the village. 606 $aMixtec Indians$zMexico$zOaxaca (State)$xReligion 606 $aMixtec Indians$xMigrations 606 $aReturn migrants$zMexico$zOaxaca (State) 606 $aReturn migration$zMexico$zOaxaca (State) 615 0$aMixtec Indians$xReligion. 615 0$aMixtec Indians$xMigrations. 615 0$aReturn migrants 615 0$aReturn migration 676 $a299.789763 700 $aO'Connor$b Mary I.$0975068 801 2$bUkMaJRU 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910153561203321 996 $aMixtec evangelicals$92220224 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01322nam0 22003133i 450 001 TO00962619 005 20251003044409.0 010 $a0691070253 100 $a20140916d2001 ||||0itac50 ba 101 | $aeng 102 $aus 181 1$6z01$ai $bxxxe 182 1$6z01$an 183 1$6z01$anc$2RDAcarrier 200 1 $aRepublic.com$fCass Sunstein 210 $aPrinceton$cPrinceton University Press$dc2001 215 $a224 p.$d20 cm. 606 $aInformazione$xDiffusione$xAspetti sociali$2FIR$3CFIC126255$9I 676 $a303.4833$9CAUSE DEL CAMBIAMENTO SOCIALE.
