Throughout, the mathematics is kept to a minimum, yet the 60 simulation examples supplied on a CD-ROM with this second edition illustrate almost every aspect of biological engineering science. Many of the examples are taken from the authors' own research, and each is described in detail, including the model equations. The programs are written in the modern user-friendly simulation language Berkeley Madonna, which runs on both Windows PC and Power-Macintosh computers. Madonna solves models comprising many ordinary differential equations using very simple programming, yet is so powerful that the model parameters may be defined as "sliders", which allow the effect of their change on the model behaviour to be seen almost immediately. Users may include data for curve fitting, and perform sensitivity or multiple runs. The results can be seen simultaneously on multiple-graph windows or by using overlays - resulting in a tremendous learning effect.; The authors' extensive experience, both in university teaching and international courses, is reflected in this well-balanced presentation, which is suitable for teachers, students, biochemists and engineers. The result is a greater understanding of the formulation and use of mass balances and kinetics for biological reaction engineering, written in a most stimulating manner. 606 $aEngineering 606 $aTechnology 606 $aChemistry 606 $aBiological Science Disciplines 606 $aInvestigative Techniques 606 $aComputing Methodologies 606 $aComputer Simulation 606 $aBiochemistry 606 $aBiotechnology 606 $aModels, Theoretical 606 $aChemical Engineering 606 $aNatural Science Disciplines 606 $aInformation Science 606 $aTechnology, Industry, and Agriculture 606 $aAnalytical, Diagnostic and Therapeutic Techniques and Equipment 606 $aTechnology, Industry, Agriculture 606 $aDisciplines and Occupations 606 $aMechanical Engineering$2HILCC 606 $aBioengineering$2HILCC 606 $aEngineering & Applied Sciences$2HILCC 608 $aElectronic books. 615 2$aEngineering 615 2$aTechnology 615 2$aChemistry 615 2$aBiological Science Disciplines 615 2$aInvestigative Techniques 615 2$aComputing Methodologies 615 2$aComputer Simulation 615 2$aBiochemistry 615 2$aBiotechnology 615 2$aModels, Theoretical 615 2$aChemical Engineering 615 2$aNatural Science Disciplines 615 2$aInformation Science 615 2$aTechnology, Industry, and Agriculture 615 2$aAnalytical, Diagnostic and Therapeutic Techniques and Equipment 615 2$aTechnology, Industry, Agriculture 615 2$aDisciplines and Occupations 615 7$aMechanical Engineering 615 7$aBioengineering 615 7$aEngineering & Applied Sciences 676 $a660.6 702 $aDunn$b Irving J 801 0$bPQKB 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910146236403321 996 $aBiological reaction engineering$91031887 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01440nas 2200409- 450 001 9910147284203321 005 20240914213022.0 035 $a(CKB)1000000000527370 035 $a(CONSER)--2014226061 035 $a(OCoLC)229898912 035 $a(DE-599)ZDB2411619-1 035 $a(EXLCZ)991000000000527370 100 $a20100929a20079999 --- b 101 0 $afre 135 $aur||||||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 00$aBulletin du Centre de recherche du château de Versailles $esociétés de cour en Europe, XVIe-XIXe siècle = European court societies, 16th to 19th centuries 210 1$aVersailles, France :$cCentre de recherche du château de Versailles 300 $aArticles posted as accepted. 300 $aRefereed/Peer-reviewed 311 08$a1958-9271 606 $aCourts and courtiers$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00881829 607 $aFrance$xCourt and courtiers$vPeriodicals 607 $aVersailles (France)$xHistory$vPeriodicals 607 $aFrance$2fast 607 $aFrance$zVersailles$2fast 608 $aHistory.$2fast 608 $aPeriodicals.$2fast 615 7$aCourts and courtiers. 686 $a700$a470$2zdbs 712 02$aCentre de recherche du cha?teau de Versailles, 906 $aJOURNAL 912 $a9910147284203321 996 $aBulletin du Centre de recherche du château de Versailles$92048127 997 $aUNINA
