CONCLUSIONS""; ""REFERENCES"" 330 3 $aUsing available data on the distribution of HIV/AIDS prevalence across population groups for four sub-Saharan African countries and transposing this information to household income and expenditure surveys, we simulate the impact of HIV/AIDS on poverty and inequality. We find that the epidemic lowers average income and increases poverty, and that the jump in poverty is larger than expected from the fall in average income. This disproportionate increase in poverty reflects the large share of the population living on the threshold of poverty and the higher HIV prevalence rates in those segments of the population. 410 0$aIMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;$vNo. 2006/126 606 $aAIDS (Disease)$xEconomic aspects 606 $aAIDS (Disease)$xSocial aspects 606 $aMacroeconomics$2imf 606 $aDiseases: AIDS and HIV$2imf 606 $aDemography$2imf 606 $aPoverty and Homelessness$2imf 606 $aHealth Behavior$2imf 606 $aPersonal Income, Wealth, and Their Distributions$2imf 606 $aWelfare, Well-Being, and Poverty: General$2imf 606 $aDemographic Economics: General$2imf 606 $aAggregate Factor Income Distribution$2imf 606 $aHIV/AIDS$2imf 606 $aPoverty & precarity$2imf 606 $aPopulation & demography$2imf 606 $aHIV and AIDS$2imf 606 $aPersonal income$2imf 606 $aPoverty$2imf 606 $aPopulation and demographics$2imf 606 $aIncome distribution$2imf 606 $aHIV$2imf 606 $aViruses$2imf 606 $aIncome$2imf 606 $aPopulation$2imf 607 $aZambia$2imf 615 0$aAIDS (Disease)$xEconomic aspects. 615 0$aAIDS (Disease)$xSocial aspects. 615 7$aMacroeconomics 615 7$aDiseases: AIDS and HIV 615 7$aDemography 615 7$aPoverty and Homelessness 615 7$aHealth Behavior 615 7$aPersonal Income, Wealth, and Their Distributions 615 7$aWelfare, Well-Being, and Poverty: General 615 7$aDemographic Economics: General 615 7$aAggregate Factor Income Distribution 615 7$aHIV/AIDS 615 7$aPoverty & precarity 615 7$aPopulation & demography 615 7$aHIV and AIDS 615 7$aPersonal income 615 7$aPoverty 615 7$aPopulation and demographics 615 7$aIncome distribution 615 7$aHIV 615 7$aViruses 615 7$aIncome 615 7$aPopulation 700 $aHaacker$b Markus$01465779 701 $aSalinas$b Gonzalo$01493457 801 0$bDcWaIMF 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910788402303321 996 $aHIV$93849994 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01830nas 2200529-a 450 001 9910144373003321 005 20240104000240.0 011 $a1758-9991 035 $a(OCoLC)319425154 035 $a(CKB)1000000000687142 035 $a(CONSER)--2009243277 035 $a(DE-599)ZDB2492669-3 035 $a(EXLCZ)991000000000687142 100 $a20090427a20099999 --- - 101 0 $aeng 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cn$2rdamedia 200 00$aHand therapy 210 $aLondon $cRoyal Society of Medicine Press 210 3 $aLondon $cSage 300 $aRefereed/Peer-reviewed 311 08$a1758-9983 606 $aHand$xWounds and injuries$xTreatment$zGreat Britain$vPeriodicals 606 $aHand$xWounds and injuries$xPatients$xRehabilitation$zGreat Britain$vPeriodicals 606 $aHand$xWounds and injuries$xPatients$xRehabilitation$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00950863 606 $aHand$xWounds and injuries$xTreatment$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00950867 606 $aHand Injuries 606 $aCarpal Tunnel Syndrome 606 $aPhysical Therapy Modalities 607 $aGreat Britain$2fast 608 $aPeriodicals.$2fast 608 $aPeriodicals.$2lcgft 608 $aPeriodical. 615 0$aHand$xWounds and injuries$xTreatment 615 0$aHand$xWounds and injuries$xPatients$xRehabilitation 615 7$aHand$xWounds and injuries$xPatients$xRehabilitation. 615 7$aHand$xWounds and injuries$xTreatment. 615 12$aHand Injuries. 615 22$aCarpal Tunnel Syndrome. 615 22$aPhysical Therapy Modalities. 676 $a617.575 712 02$aBritish Association of Hand Therapists. 712 02$aEuropean Federation of Societies for Hand Therapy. 906 $aJOURNAL 912 $a9910144373003321 996 $aHand therapy$91973444 997 $aUNINA
