A complex and understudied system, transnational adoption opens a window onto the relations between nations, the inequalities of the rich and the poor, and the history of race and racialization, Transnational adoption has been marked by the geographies of unequal power, as children move from poorer countries and families to wealthier ones, yet little work has been done to synthesize its complex and sometimes contradictory effects.Rather than focusing only on the United States, as much previous work on the topic does, International Adoption considers the perspectives of a number of sending countries as well as other receiving countries, particularly in Europe. The book also reminds us that the U.S. also sends children into international adoptions?particularly children of color. The book thus complicates the standard scholarly treatment of the subject, which tends to focus on the tensions between those who argue that transnational adoption is an outgrowth of American wealth, power, and military might (as well as a rejection of adoption from domestic foster care) and those who maintain that it is about a desire to help children in need. 606 $aIntercountry adoption 606 $aAdoption 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aIntercountry adoption. 615 0$aAdoption. 676 $a362.734 700 $aBriggs$b Laura, $4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$01036971 701 $aMarre$b Diana$01036972 701 $aBriggs$b Laura$f1964-$01004131 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910453991503321 996 $aInternational adoption$92457620 997 $aUNINA LEADER 05110oas 2201849 a 450 001 9910143542203321 005 20251106213014.0 011 $a1878-3368 035 $a(DE-599)ZDB2202217-X 035 $a(DE-599)2202217-X 035 $a(OCoLC)56698327 035 $a(CONSER) 2012250741 035 $a(CKB)111098758352008 035 $a(EXLCZ)99111098758352008 100 $a20041011b20042012 uy a 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurcnu|||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 00$aClinical nutrition$iSupplements 210 $aAmsterdam $cElsevier$d©2004- 300 $aSome issues have also a distinctive title. 311 08$a1744-1161 606 $aDiet therapy$vPeriodicals 606 $aParenteral feeding$vPeriodicals 606 $aEnteral feeding$vPeriodicals 606 $aNutrition$vPeriodicals 606 $aDietary supplements$vPeriodicals 606 $aMetabolism$vPeriodicals 606 $aMetabolism 606 $aNutrition 606 $aParenteral feeding 606 $aNutritional Physiological Phenomena$vperiodicals 606 $aMetabolism 606 $aNutritional Physiological Phenomena 606 $aParenteral Nutrition 606 $aParenteral Nutrition$vperiodicals 606 $aMetabolism$vPeriodicals 606 $aNutrition$vperiodicals 606 $aEnteral Nutrition$vperiodicals 606 $aEnteral Nutrition 606 $aDie?tothe?rapie$vPe?riodiques 606 $aAlimentation parente?rale$vPe?riodiques 606 $aAlimentation ente?rale$vPe?riodiques 606 $aNutrition$vPe?riodiques 606 $aMe?tabolisme$vPe?riodiques 606 $aComple?ments alimentaires$vPe?riodiques 606 $aMe?tabolisme 606 $aNutrition 606 $aAlimentation parente?rale 606 $ametabolism (biological concept)$2aat 606 $aDiet therapy$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00893321 606 $aDietary supplements$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00893336 606 $aEnteral feeding$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00912593 606 $aMetabolism$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst01017473 606 $aNutrition$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst01042187 606 $aParenteral feeding$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst01053379 606 $aAspect clinique$2rasuqam 606 $aDie?tothe?rapie$2rasuqam 606 $aMaladie me?tabolique$2rasuqam 606 $aNutrition$2rasuqam 608 $aPeriodicals.$2fast 608 $aPe?riodique e?lectronique (Descripteur de forme)$2rasuqam 608 $aRessource Internet (Descripteur de forme)$2rasuqam 615 0$aDiet therapy 615 0$aParenteral feeding 615 0$aEnteral feeding 615 0$aNutrition 615 0$aDietary supplements 615 0$aMetabolism 615 0$aMetabolism. 615 0$aNutrition. 615 0$aParenteral feeding. 615 2$aNutritional Physiological Phenomena 615 2$aMetabolism. 615 2$aNutritional Physiological Phenomena. 615 2$aParenteral Nutrition. 615 2$aParenteral Nutrition 615 2$aMetabolism 615 2$aNutrition 615 2$aEnteral Nutrition 615 2$aEnteral Nutrition. 615 6$aDie?tothe?rapie 615 6$aAlimentation parente?rale 615 6$aAlimentation ente?rale 615 6$aNutrition 615 6$aMe?tabolisme 615 6$aComple?ments alimentaires 615 6$aMe?tabolisme. 615 6$aNutrition. 615 6$aAlimentation parente?rale. 615 7$ametabolism (biological concept) 615 7$aDiet therapy. 615 7$aDietary supplements. 615 7$aEnteral feeding. 615 7$aMetabolism. 615 7$aNutrition. 615 7$aParenteral feeding. 615 7$aAspect clinique. 615 7$aDie?tothe?rapie. 615 7$aMaladie me?tabolique. 615 7$aNutrition. 676 $a615.85 712 02$aEuropean Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism. 801 0$bVAM 801 1$bVAM 801 2$bMUQ 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bUQ1 801 2$bVRC 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bBUF 801 2$bLGG 801 2$bAUD 801 2$bLND 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bOPELS 801 2$bOCLCF 801 2$bCOO 801 2$bOCLCO 801 2$bPFM 801 2$bOCLCO 801 2$bUKMGB 801 2$bOCLCO 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bOCLCO 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bZ5A 801 2$bOCLCO 801 2$bOCLCA 801 2$bEZC 801 2$bOCLCO 801 2$bFQM 801 2$bU3W 801 2$bOCLCO 801 2$bAU@ 801 2$bOCLCO 801 2$bWYU 801 2$bOCLCO 801 2$bOCLCA 801 2$bTKN 801 2$bOCLCO 801 2$bOCLCA 801 2$bVT2 801 2$bOCLCO 801 2$bNLM 801 2$bBWN 801 2$bOCLCO 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bOCLKB 801 2$bOCLCL 801 2$bOCLCQ 906 $aJOURNAL 912 $a9910143542203321 996 $aClinical nutrition$9797120 997 $aUNINA
