L'arpenteur vagabond s'inte?resse a? ces documents longtemps ne?glige?s par la critique et au ro?le que cette familiarite? avec le geste cartographique a joue? dans le travail de l'e?crivain. Ce parcours de l'ensemble de son ?uvre montre que Thoreau, tout en mesurant parfaitement les limites et le biais ide?ologique de l'entreprise cartographique, y voyait aussi un outil irremplac?able de clarification et de mise au jour de phe?nome?nes (humains et non humains) habituellement invisibles. Dans ses textes sur la nature comme dans ses essais plus explicitement politiques, la langue vagabonde et « extravagante » de Thoreau trouve ainsi dans les cartes un allie? inattendu qui permet une redistribution pole?mique des spatialite?s et la mise en place d'un nouveau re?gime de visibilite?. Henry David Thoreau's legacy is not only literary but cartographic, including numerous maps long neglected by critics- from the plans he drafted as a professional surveyor, to the ancient charts he copied in the library at Harvard University. The Surveyor and the Saunterer examines the role that these maps played in Thoreau's work as a writer. While he was aware of their geographic limitations, and the ideological bias involved in map-making, Thoreau was nevertheless drawn to them as a unique clarification tool, capable of revealing phenomena that would otherwise remain invisible. In his writings on nature, as well as in his more political essays, Thoreau's "extravagant" and sauntering mind finds an unexpected ally in cartography, allowing him to conduct a controversial redistribution of spatiality, and explore a new system of visibility. 517 $aArpenteur vagabond 606 $aHistorical geography 615 0$aHistorical geography. 676 $a911 700 $aNe?gre$b Julien$01308185 801 0$bNjHacI 801 1$bNjHacl 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910724337403321 996 $aArpenteur vagabond$93390409 997 $aUNINA LEADER 02814oas 2200973 a 450 001 9910142280003321 005 20260218113237.0 011 $a1939-1935 035 $a(DE-599)ZDB2115820-4 035 $a(OCoLC)49038893 035 $a(CONSER) 2002230907 035 $a(CKB)1000000000319500 035 $a(DE-599)2115820-4 035 $a(EXLCZ)991000000000319500 100 $a20020219a19949999 ua a 101 0 $aeng 135 $auranu|||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aCityscape $ea journal of policy development and research /$fU.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development, Office of Policy Development and Research 210 $aWashington, D.C. $cU.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development, Office of Policy Development and Research$d1994- 215 $a1 online resource (volumes) 300 $aTitle from PDF cover (JSTOR website, viewed Feb. 8, 2012). 311 08$a1936-007X 606 $aUrban policy$zUnited States$vPeriodicals 606 $aCity planning$vPeriodicals 606 $aHousing policy$zUnited States$vPeriodicals 606 $aHousing$vPeriodicals 606 $aUrbanistyka$2dbn 606 $aCity planning$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00862177 606 $aHousing$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00962245 606 $aHousing policy$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00962432 606 $aUrban policy$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst01162489 607 $aStany Zjednoczone$2dbn 607 $aUnited States$2fast$1https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39PBJtxgQXMWqmjMjjwXRHgrq 608 $aCzasopismo architektoniczne.$2dbn 608 $aPeriodicals.$2fast 608 $aPeriodicals.$2lcgft 615 0$aUrban policy 615 0$aCity planning 615 0$aHousing policy 615 0$aHousing 615 7$aUrbanistyka. 615 7$aCity planning. 615 7$aHousing. 615 7$aHousing policy. 615 7$aUrban policy. 676 $a307 712 02$aUnited States.$bDepartment of Housing and Urban Development.$bOffice of Policy Development and Research. 801 0$bBKL 801 1$bBKL 801 2$bGPO 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bOCL 801 2$bGPO 801 2$bNSD 801 2$bDLC 801 2$bLGG 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bOCLCE 801 2$bEYM 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bOCLCA 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bOCLCO 801 2$bOCLCA 801 2$bOCLCF 801 2$bOCLCO 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bGILDS 801 2$bOCLCO 801 2$bVT2 801 2$bSFB 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bGPO 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bIOY 801 2$bOCLCL 801 2$bOCLCQ 906 $aJOURNAL 912 $a9910142280003321 996 $aCityscape$91991015 997 $aUNINA
