The special focus is on binding the empirical analysis to the theoretical and methodological discussions of the temporality of news(paper) culture. The authors of the articles ask to what extent newspapers report on the past and present and to what extent these reports refer to the future. A diachronic analysis of newspaper texts from different periods of time demonstrates that the temporal focus of newspapers changes over time: in some periods, the past receives remarkably more attention, while in other periods the news timeframe is biased towards current events and the future. One study asks how similar, or different, is the (re)construction of the past in Estonian daily newspapers published in Estonian and Russian in 1994 and 2009. Two articles focus on analysis of the links between social remembering and anniversary journalism. Another article provides an overview of the depiction of women in Estonian newspapers and magazines from 1848 to 1940. This collection revitalizes the study of time in news discourse, suggesting new methodological perspectives and developing interdisciplinary approaches in cultural theory. 606 $aWorld War, 1939-1945$xMass media and the war$zEstonia 606 $aRussian newspapers$xHistory$zEstonia 606 $aEstonian newspapers$xHistory$zEstonia 606 $aWomen in mass media 610 $anewspapers 610 $aanniversary 610 $ajournalism 610 $acommemoration 610 $aEstonia 610 $atime structures 610 $ajournalistic discourse 610 $atiming 610 $aPostimees 610 $aRussia 610 $aSoviet Union 610 $aTallinn 615 0$aWorld War, 1939-1945$xMass media and the war 615 0$aRussian newspapers$xHistory 615 0$aEstonian newspapers$xHistory 615 0$aWomen in mass media 700 $aHarro-Loit$b Halliki$4auth$0802008 702 $aKello$b Katrin 702 $aHarro-Loit$b Halliki 801 0$bPQKB 801 2$bUkMaJRU 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910141597603321 996 $aThe curving mirror of time$93384136 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03982nas 2201333-a 450 001 996214877303316 005 20230301213019.0 011 $a1872-7131 035 $a(DE-599)ZDB1499913-4 035 $a(OCoLC)60637387 035 $a(CKB)954925528879 035 $a(CONSER)--2007242053 035 $a(EXLCZ)99954925528879 100 $a20050615a19799999 s-- a 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurun||||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aBrain & development 210 $aTokyo $cB & D Pub.
