This function loss has multiple causes including central and peripheral nerve dysfunction, loss of muscle mass and strength, as well as joints and bone alterations. Muscle-tendon unit and its innervation has a pivotal role in motor function performance that can be disrupted by overuse degeneration and aging. Research has shown that overuse degeneration and aging also share some pathophysiological mechanisms including mitochondrial dysfunction, increased apoptosis, abnormal modulation of autophagy, decline in satellite cells, increased generation of reactive oxygen species, and modification of signalling and stress response pathways. This Research Topic is intended to bring together basic researchers and clinicians working in the area of neuroscience, aging, sarcopenia and orthopaedics in human and in animal models. The aim of this cross-fertilization is to accelerate our understanding of the mechanisms involved in aging and degeneration of the muscle-tendon unit and its innervation and to explore the therapeutic potential of pharmacological and physical therapy interventions. 517 $aMuscle-Tendon-Innervation Unit 606 $aNeurosciences$2bicssc 610 $aAging 610 $aAnimal Models 610 $acongenital muscular dystrophy 610 $ainnervation 610 $aMuscle 610 $aNanoparticles 610 $aParkinson's camptocormia 610 $aStem/progenitor cells 610 $aTendon 610 $atherapy 615 7$aNeurosciences 700 $aBonaldo$b Paolo$4auth$01858491 702 $aFaldini$b C$g(Cesare)$4auth 702 $aMerlini$b L$g(Luciano)$4auth 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910220038903321 996 $aMuscle-Tendon-Innervation Unit: Degeneration and Aging - Pathophysiological and Regeneration Mechanisms$94460865 997 $aUNINA LEADER 02878oas 2201021 a 450 001 9910141576903321 005 20251105213014.0 011 $a2050-0068 035 $a(OCoLC)823234840 035 $a(CONSER) 2014243522 035 $a(CKB)2670000000357450 035 $a(MiAaPQ)2041959 035 $a(DE-599)ZDB2694482-0 035 $a(EXLCZ)992670000000357450 100 $a20130103a20129999 uy a 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur||||||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 00$aClinical & translational immunology 210 $a[London] $cNature Publishing Group$d2012- 210 3 $a[Milton, Queensland] $cJohn Wiley & Sons Australia, Ltd on behalf of Australian and New Zealand Society for Immunology, Inc 215 $a1 online resource 300 $aRefereed/Peer-reviewed 517 1 $aClinical and translational immunology 517 1 $aCTI 531 0 $aClin. transl. immunol. 606 $aImmunologic diseases$vPeriodicals 606 $aImmunology$vPeriodicals 606 $aClinical medicine$vPeriodicals 606 $aImmune System Diseases$xtherapy 606 $aImmunotherapy 606 $aImmunologic Factors$xtherapeutic use 606 $aTranslational Research, Biomedical 606 $aMolecular Targeted Therapy 606 $aClinical medicine$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00864361 606 $aImmunologic diseases$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00967977 606 $aImmunology$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00968006 608 $aPeriodical. 608 $aFulltext. 608 $aInternet Resources. 608 $aPeriodicals. 608 $aPeriodicals.$2fast 608 $aPeriodicals.$2lcgft 615 0$aImmunologic diseases 615 0$aImmunology 615 0$aClinical medicine 615 12$aImmune System Diseases$xtherapy. 615 22$aImmunotherapy. 615 22$aImmunologic Factors$xtherapeutic use. 615 22$aTranslational Research, Biomedical. 615 22$aMolecular Targeted Therapy. 615 7$aClinical medicine. 615 7$aImmunologic diseases. 615 7$aImmunology. 676 $a616.079 712 02$aAustralasian Society for Immunology, 801 0$bLDL 801 1$bLDL 801 2$bOCLCO 801 2$bBUF 801 2$bOCLCF 801 2$bNLM 801 2$bOCLCO 801 2$bCUS 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bOCLCO 801 2$bCASUM 801 2$bOCLCA 801 2$bNLM 801 2$bDLC 801 2$bAU@ 801 2$bUKMGB 801 2$bOCLCA 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bDLC 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bBWN 801 2$bUBY 801 2$bOCLCO 801 2$bOCLCA 801 2$bOCLCL 801 2$bOCLCQ 906 $aJOURNAL 912 $a9910141576903321 996 $aClinical & translational immunology$92072388 997 $aUNINA
