Conclusion -- Bibliography -- Index 330 8 $aIn recent years there has been increased interest in three contemporary French philosophers, all former students of Louis Althusser and each now an influential thinker in his own right. Alain Badiou is one of the most important living continental thinkers, well-known for his pioneering theory of the Event. Etienne Balibar has forged new approaches to democracy, citizenship and what he describes as 'equaliberty'. Jacques Rancie?re has crossed boundaries between history, politics and aesthetics and his work is beginning to receive the attention it deserves. Nick Hewlett brings these three thinkers together, examining the political aspects of their work. He argues that in each of their systems there are useful and insightful elements that make real contributions to the understanding of the modern history of politics and to the understanding of contemporary politics. But he also identifies and explores problems in each of Badiou, Balibar and Rancie?re's work, arguing that none offers a wholly convincing approach. This is a must-have for students of contemporary continental philosophy 410 0$aContinuum studies in Continental philosophy. 606 $aPolitical science$xPhilosophy 606 $2Social & political philosophy 606 $aDemocracy 606 $aEquality 607 $aFrance$xIntellectual life$y20th century 615 0$aPolitical science$xPhilosophy. 615 0$aDemocracy. 615 0$aEquality. 676 $a320.092/244 700 $aHewlett$b Nick$0594045 801 0$bUtOrBLW 801 1$bUtOrBLW 801 2$bUkLoBP 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910780804203321 996 $aBadiou, Balibar, Ranciere$93701223 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03333oas 2201261 a 450 001 9910141200503321 005 20251208213017.0 011 $a1930-6571 035 $a(DE-599)ZDB2252907-X 035 $a(DE-599)2252907-X 035 $a(OCoLC)49234981 035 $a(CONSER) 2006213862 035 $a(CKB)110975506068911 035 $a(EXLCZ)99110975506068911 100 $a20020304a19629999 uy a 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurmnu|||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 00$aInternational legal materials 210 $aWashington, D.C. $cAmerican Society of International Law$d1962- 210 3 $a[New York, N.Y.] $cCambridge University Press 215 $a1 online resource 300 $aTitle from title screen (Hein Online, viewed Mar. 4, 2002). 311 08$a0020-7829 606 $aInternational law$vPeriodicals 606 $aTreaties$vCollections 606 $aDroit international$xSources 606 $aTraite?s 606 $aDroit international$xPe?riodiques 606 $aRelations internationales$xPe?riodiques 606 $aDroit international$vSources 606 $aPrawo mie?dzynarodowe$2dbn 606 $aDroit international$2eclas 606 $aPublications pe?riodiques$2eclas 606 $aTraite?s$2eclas 606 $aInternational law$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00976984 606 $aTreaties$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst01155866 606 $aVerdragen$2gtt 606 $aInternational law$vSources$2nli 606 $aTreaties$2nli 608 $aCollections. 608 $aCzasopismo prawnicze.$2dbn 608 $aCollections.$2fast 608 $aPeriodicals.$2fast 608 $aPeriodicals.$2lcgft 608 $aTraite?s.$2rvmgf 615 0$aInternational law 615 0$aTreaties 615 6$aDroit international$xSources. 615 6$aTraite?s. 615 6$aDroit international$xPe?riodiques. 615 6$aRelations internationales$xPe?riodiques. 615 6$aDroit international 615 7$aPrawo mie?dzynarodowe. 615 7$aDroit international. 615 7$aPublications pe?riodiques. 615 7$aTraite?s. 615 7$aInternational law. 615 7$aTreaties. 615 17$aVerdragen. 615 7$aInternational law 615 7$aTreaties. 676 $a241.1 712 02$aAmerican Society of International Law, 801 0$bFPS 801 1$bFPS 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bNSD 801 2$bDLC 801 2$bLGG 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bEYM 801 2$bMT4IT 801 2$bCUD 801 2$bOCLCS 801 2$bUX0 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bCGU 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bOCLCF 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bCUS 801 2$bNLE 801 2$bGILDS 801 2$bOCLCO 801 2$bUKMGB 801 2$bDLC 801 2$bVT2 801 2$bUUM 801 2$bOCLCO 801 2$bDLC 801 2$bEZC 801 2$bOCLCO 801 2$bQGK 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bAUD 801 2$bOCLCL 801 2$bOCLCE 801 2$bOCLCL 801 2$bUBY 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bU3W 906 $aJOURNAL 912 $a9910141200503321 996 $aInternational legal materials$9793718 997 $aUNINA
