History, Literature, and Music in Scotland, 700-1560 brings together contributions from scholars working in different disciplines but with a common interest in medieval Scotland. The essays cover a variety of topics and different approaches to the past by historians, literary scholars and musicologists, who discuss historical writing, political culture, entertainment, culture, gender, power and authority, and identity between AD 700 and AD 1560. Many contributions highlight the connections of medieval Scotland with other regions of Europe, including Ireland and Scandinavia, and almost all of the papers illustrate how new approaches to the source material can illuminate significant new aspects of medieval Scottish society. 606 $aEnglish literature$xScottish authors$xHistory and criticism 606 $aScottish literature$yTo 1700$xHistory and criticism 606 $aMusic$zScotland$xHistory and criticism 607 $aScotland$xHistory$yTo 1603 607 $aScotland$xIn literature 607 $aScotland$xCivilization 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aEnglish literature$xScottish authors$xHistory and criticism. 615 0$aScottish literature$xHistory and criticism. 615 0$aMusic$xHistory and criticism. 676 $a941.1 702 $aMcDonald$b R. The dissipation of kinetic energy can lead to effects such as the formation of clusters, anomalous diffusion and characteristic shock waves to name but a few. The book is organized as follows: Part I comprises the rigorous theoretical results for the dilute limit. The detailed properties of binary collisions are described in Part II. Part III contains experimental investigations of granular gases. Large-scale behaviour as found in astrophysical systems is discussed in Part IV. Part V, finally, deals with possible generalizations for dense granular systems. 410 0$aLecture Notes in Physics,$x0075-8450 ;$v564 606 $aCondensed matter 606 $aField theory (Physics) 606 $aStatistical physics 606 $aDynamics 606 $aAmorphous substances 606 $aComplex fluids 606 $aMechanics 606 $aMechanics, Applied 606 $aCondensed Matter Physics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/P25005 606 $aClassical and Continuum Physics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/P2100X 606 $aComplex Systems$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/P33000 606 $aSoft and Granular Matter, Complex Fluids and Microfluidics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/P25021 606 $aTheoretical and Applied Mechanics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/T15001 606 $aStatistical Physics and Dynamical Systems$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/P19090 615 0$aCondensed matter. 615 0$aField theory (Physics) 615 0$aStatistical physics. 615 0$aDynamics. 615 0$aAmorphous substances. 615 0$aComplex fluids. 615 0$aMechanics. 615 0$aMechanics, Applied. 615 14$aCondensed Matter Physics. 615 24$aClassical and Continuum Physics. 615 24$aComplex Systems. 615 24$aSoft and Granular Matter, Complex Fluids and Microfluidics. 615 24$aTheoretical and Applied Mechanics. 615 24$aStatistical Physics and Dynamical Systems. 676 $a533/.2 702 $aPöschel$b Thorsten$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aLuding$b Stefan$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910139821703321 996 $aGranular Gases$9378409 997 $aUNINA
