These were not mere pseudonyms, but what Pessoa termed 'heteronyms,' fully realized identities possessed not only of wildly divergent writing styles and opinions, but also of detailed biographies. In many cases, their independent existences extended to their publication of letters and critical readings of each other's works (and those of Pessoa 'himself').Long acclaimed in continental Europe and Latin America as a towering presence in literary modernism, Pessoa has more recently begun to receive the attention of an English-speaking public. Embodying Pessoa responds to this new growth of interest. The collection's twelve essays, preceded by a general introduction and grouped into four themed sections, apply a range of current interpretative models both to the more familiar canon of Pessoa's output, and to less familiar texts - in many cases only recently published. As a whole, this work diverges from traditional Pessoa criticism by testifying to the importance of corporeal physicality in his heteronymous experiment and to the prominence of representations of (gendered) sexuality in his work. 410 0$aUniversity of Toronto romance series. 606 $aHeteronyms 606 $aGender identity in literature 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aHeteronyms. 615 0$aGender identity in literature. 676 $a869.1/41 702 $aKlobucka$b Anna$f1961- 702 $aSabine$b Mark 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910460221903321 996 $aEmbodying Pessoa$92259991 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01431oam 2200469zu 450 001 9910138928203321 005 20241212215811.0 010 $a9781509069859 010 $a1509069852 010 $a9781424448418 010 $a1424448417 035 $a(CKB)2400000000002682 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000452937 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)12169715 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000452937 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10472635 035 $a(PQKB)11604017 035 $a(NjHacI)992400000000002682 035 $a(EXLCZ)992400000000002682 100 $a20160829d2009 uy 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur||||||||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 10$a2009 3rd International Symposium on Empirical Software Engineering and Measurement 210 31$a[Place of publication not identified]$cIEEE$d2009 215 $a1 online resource $cillustrations 300 $aBibliographic Level Mode of Issuance: Monograph 311 08$a9781424448425 311 08$a1424448425 606 $aSoftware engineering$vCongresses 606 $aSoftware measurement$vCongresses 615 0$aSoftware engineering 615 0$aSoftware measurement 676 $a005.1 702 $aIEEE Staff 801 0$bPQKB 906 $aPROCEEDING 912 $a9910138928203321 996 $a2009 3rd International Symposium on Empirical Software Engineering and Measurement$92415595 997 $aUNINA
