The research presented is based on the newest and most renowned sources, namely The Great Dictionary of Modern Chinese Dialects, and the Language Atlas of China. The author discusses the role The Great Dictionary plays in analyzing the spectrum of linguistic differentiation in China and gives a detailed account of the kind of information the dictionary provides. As background, she sketches the development and current state of Chinese dialectology and dialect research. One of the author's aims is to show respect for the grand achievement the Dictionary undoubtedly is, but also to emphasize a critical distance to some of the views presented in it. Apart from being an analysis of this particular Dictionary, the book presents data about the state of modern Chinese dialectology. It provides information about different classifications of the dialects and explains on what basis the classifications are made. Looking at Chinese dialectology from a Western point of view, the author aims to understand and present the Chinese perspective. The book fills an important gap in the field of Western sinology. So far, despite lively discussions concerning the status of the varieties of Chinese and their taxonomy, full-scale studies on Chinese dialects have been almost non-existent in the Western World. 410 0$aTrends in linguistics.$pStudies and monographs ;$v215. 606 $aChinese language$xDialects$vDictionaries 606 $aChinese language$xPhonetics 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aChinese language$xDialects 615 0$aChinese language$xPhonetics. 676 $a495.1/703 686 $aEG 9350$2rvk 700 $aKurpaska$b Maria$f1977-$01037214 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910459241403321 996 $aChinese language(s)$92458033 997 $aUNINA LEADER 04759nam 22006495 450 001 9910136841503321 005 20251030100429.0 010 $a9781137509567 010 $a1137509562 024 7 $a10.1057/978-1-137-50956-7 035 $a(CKB)3710000000907553 035 $a(DE-He213)978-1-137-50956-7 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC4721573 035 $a(PPN)223760102 035 $a(Perlego)3488810 035 $a(EXLCZ)993710000000907553 100 $a20161014d2016 u| 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurnn#008mamaa 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aAfter the Financial Crisis $eShifting Legal, Economic and Political Paradigms /$fedited by Pablo Iglesias-Rodriguez, Anna Triandafyllidou, Ruby Gropas 205 $a1st ed. 2016. 210 1$aLondon :$cPalgrave Macmillan UK :$cImprint: Palgrave Macmillan,$d2016. 215 $a1 online resource (XXI, 353 p. 19 illus., 16 illus. in color.) 225 1 $aPalgrave Studies in European Political Sociology,$x2946-6024 311 08$a9781137509543 311 08$a1137509546 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references at the end of each chapters and index. 327 $a1. Contributors to this book argue that both elites and citizens have had to rethink the nature of the market, the role of the state as a market regulator and as a provider of welfare, the role of political parties in representing society?s main political and social cleavages, the role of civil society in voicing the concerns of citizens, and the role of the citizen as the ultimate source of power in a democracy but also as a fundamentally powerless subject in a global economy. The book studies the actors, the areas and the processes that have carried forward the change and proposes the notion of ?incomplete paradigm shift? to analyse this change. Its authors explore the multiple dimensions of paradigm shifts and their differentiated evolution, arguing that today we witness an incomplete paradigm shift of financial regulations, economic models and welfare systems, but a stillbirth of a new political and economic paradigm. 410 0$aPalgrave Studies in European Political Sociology,$x2946-6024 606 $aPolitical sociology 606 $aEurope$xPolitics and government 606 $aLabor economics 606 $aSociology 606 $aPolitical Sociology 606 $aEuropean Politics 606 $aLabor Economics 606 $aSociology 615 0$aPolitical sociology. 615 0$aEurope$xPolitics and government. 615 0$aLabor economics. 615 0$aSociology. 615 14$aPolitical Sociology. 615 24$aEuropean Politics. 615 24$aLabor Economics. 615 24$aSociology. 676 $a306.2 702 $aIglesias-Rodri?guez$b Pablo$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aTriandafyllidou$b Anna$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aGropas$b Ruby$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910136841503321 996 $aAfter the Financial Crisis$92519278 997 $aUNINA
