While the role of acetylcholine (ACh), as a modulator of attention, memory, and learning has been recognized for many years, the mechanics of cholinergic signaling in the brain are yet to be completely understood. How endogenous and exogenous modulators of cholinergic signaling affect network output and synaptic plasticity is, as yet, unclear. Recent studies have begun to address roles for this system in synaptic plasticity and input-output functions of local circuits. Technological developments, like optogenetic models, are beginning to advance our understanding of this transmitter system in greater detail. The aim is to bring together, the current state of knowledge in the field, and provide insights into how our understanding of cholinergic signaling mechanisms informs behavioral and cognitive functions of the system. The issue will include original articles, reviews, and perspectives, that address nicotinic-, and muscarinic- receptor signaling at a cellular and systems level. This includes cellular electrophysiology, signal transduction, and circuit level analyses. In addition, studies that address, and advance, our understanding of endogenous transmission by acetylcholine will be included. 410 0$aFrontiers research topics. 606 $aCholinergic mechanisms 606 $aAcetylcholine 606 $aCognition 606 $aNeurosciences 610 $amuscarinic 610 $acircuit 610 $aInterneurons 610 $aAddiction 610 $anicotinic 610 $aOlfaction 610 $aAttention 610 $aVisual Cortex 615 0$aCholinergic mechanisms. 615 0$aAcetylcholine. 615 0$aCognition. 615 0$aNeurosciences. 676 $a612.82 700 $aSukumar Vijayaraghavan$4auth$01363582 702 $aVijayaraghavan$b Sukumar 702 $aSharma$b Geeta 801 0$bUkMaJRU 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910136800503321 996 $aBrain cholinergic mechanisms$93384339 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01145nam0 22002891i 450 001 UON00232623 005 20231205103509.733 100 $a20030730f |0itac50 ba 101 $agre 102 $aGR 105 $a|||| 1|||| 200 1 $aApanta$fAndrea Kalbou 210 $aAthena$cStochaste,[s.d.] 215 $a176 p.$d17 cm. 620 $aGR$dAtene$3UONL000203 676 $a889$cLetteratura greca moderna$v21 700 1$aKALBOS$bAndreas$3UONV140992$0533160 712 $aStochastes$3UONV265935$4650 790 1$aCALVOS, Andreas$zKALBOS, Andreas$3UONV132965 790 1$aKALVOS, Andreas$zKALBOS, Andreas$3UONV159969 790 1$aCALBO, Andrea$zKALBOS, Andreas$3UONV208853 801 $aIT$bSOL$c20240220$gRICA 912 $aUON00232623 950 $aSIBA - SISTEMA BIBLIOTECARIO DI ATENEO$dSI GRECO FONDO ZORAS 0553 $eSI EO 34241 5 0553 950 $aSIBA - SISTEMA BIBLIOTECARIO DI ATENEO$dSI GRECO FONDO ZORAS 0554 $eSI EO 34697 5 0554 996 $aApanta$91233536 997 $aUNIOR
