Er wandte sich schon als Student Balladen und Lyrik zu. Später konzentrierte er sich auf Dramen und Aphorismen, die heute noch diskutiert werden. Anfänglich von der Neuromantik angezogen, wechselte er zum Expressionismus, verschloss sich aber den neuen Versformen und hielt an der strengen Form fest.Der in Wien geborene Dichter wuchs in einer bürgerlichen Familie auf, studierte Architektur und war Schüler von Adolf Loos. Kurz nach dem ?Anschluss? Österreichs musste er nach Frankreich fliehen, wo er seine literarische Arbeit fortsetzte. Das Leben des Dichters ist nur bruchstückhaft überliefert.
