The origins of this consensus lie in a decisive reorientation of the field that began approximately four decades ago. For much of the twentieth century, research on medieval music had focused on the discovery and evaluation of musical and theoretical sources. The 1970s and 1980s, by contrast, witnessed calls for broader methodologies and more fully contextual approaches that in turn anticipated the emergence of the so-called 'New Musicology'. The fifteen essays in the present collection explore three interrelated areas of inquiry that proved particularly significant: the liturgy, sources (musical and archival), and musical symbolism. In so doing, these essays not only acknowledge past achievements but also illustrate how this broad, interdisciplinary approach remains a source for scholarly innovation. 606 $aMusic$y500-1400$xHistory and criticism 606 $aMusic$y15th century$xHistory and criticism 606 $aMusic$y16th century$xHistory and criticism 615 0$aMusic$xHistory and criticism. 615 0$aMusic$xHistory and criticism. 615 0$aMusic$xHistory and criticism. 676 $a780.9/02 702 $aBrand$b Benjamin David$f1977- 702 $aRothenberg$b David J$g(David Joseph), 801 0$bUkCbUP 801 1$bUkCbUP 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910150188903321 996 $aMusic and culture in the Middle Ages and beyond$92583393 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01683nas 2200481-a 450 001 9910134743503321 005 20240413024211.0 011 $a1602-4125 035 $a(CKB)110992357325730 035 $a(CONSER)---55025917- 035 $a(EXLCZ)99110992357325730 100 $a19810306b19491998 -a- - 101 0 $adan 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aÅrsberetning /$fStatens skadedyrlaboratorium = Annual report / Ministry of Agriculture, Pest Infestation Laboratory 210 $aSpringforbi, Danmark $cStatens skadedyrlaboratorium$d1951-1999 215 $a1 online resource 300 $aPublished: Lyngby, Denmark, 1965-<1993>. 311 $aPrint version: Årsberetning / (DLC) 55025917 (OCoLC)7200384 0374-504X 517 3 $aAnnual report 517 1 $aDanish Pest Infestation Laboratory annual report 531 $aÅRSBERET. - STATENS SKADEDYRLAB 531 $aDAN PEST INFEST LAB ANNU REP 531 0 $aÅrsberet.-Statens Skadedyrlab. 606 $aAgricultural pests$vPeriodicals 606 $aAgricultural pests$zDenmark$vPeriodicals 606 $aAgricultural pests$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00801150 607 $aDenmark$2fast$1https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity/E39QbtfRC7kMQT98kFPPM9vCkc 608 $aPeriodicals.$2fast 610 $aPest control 610 $aDenmark 610 $aLaboratories 610 $aAnnual reports 615 0$aAgricultural pests 615 0$aAgricultural pests 615 7$aAgricultural pests. 906 $aJOURNAL 912 $a9910134743503321 920 $aexl_impl conversion 996 $aÅrsberetning$91940866 997 $aUNINA
