The violent repression used by the Pinochet regime to maintain power and transform the country's political profile and economic system has received less attention than the Argentine military dictatorship, even though the Pinochet regime endured twice as long.In this primary study of Chile Under Pinochet, Mark Ensalaco maintains that Pinochet was complicit in the "enforced disappearance" of thousands of Chileans and an unknown number of foreign nationals. Ensalaco spent five years in Chile investigating the impact of Pinochet's rule and interviewing members of the truth commission created to investigate the human rights violations under Pinochet. The political objective of human rights organizations, Ensalaco contends, is to bring sufficient pressure to bear on violent regimes to induce them to end policies of repression. However, these efforts are severely limited by the disparities of power between human rights organizations and regimes intent on ruthlessly eliminating dissent. 410 0$aPennsylvania studies in human rights. 606 $aHuman rights$zChile$xHistory 606 $aPolitical persecution$zChile 606 $aVictims of state-sponsored terrorism$zChile 606 $aDisappeared persons$zChile 606 $aMilitary government$zChile$xHistory 607 $aChile$xPolitics and government$y1973-1988 610 $aHistory. 610 $aHuman Rights. 610 $aLaw. 610 $aPolitical Science. 615 0$aHuman rights$xHistory. 615 0$aPolitical persecution 615 0$aVictims of state-sponsored terrorism 615 0$aDisappeared persons 615 0$aMilitary government$xHistory. 676 $a323.4/9/098309047 700 $aEnsalaco$b Mark$01519676 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910781739203321 996 $aChile under Pinochet$93814300 997 $aUNINA LEADER 02603oas 22008773a 450 001 9910132824403321 005 20251008213014.0 011 $a2160-3189 035 $a(OCoLC)61123981 035 $a(CONSER) 2011201678 035 $a(CKB)110978977287094 035 $a(EXLCZ)99110978977287094 100 $a20050722a19919999 sy a 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurun||||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aFeed & grain $eyour information resource for profitable growth 210 $aFort Atkinson, WI $cJohnson Hill Press 210 3 $aFort Atkinson, WI $cCygnus Business Media 300 $aDecember issue called Showcase issue. 311 08$a1055-3223 517 1 $aFeed and grain 517 1 $aFeed & grain: your source for improving efficiencies in handling storage and grain processing 517 1 $aCygnus feed & grain 531 0 $aFeed grain 606 $aFlour industry$vPeriodicals 606 $aFeed industry$vPeriodicals 606 $aGrain trade$vPeriodicals 606 $aFlour industry$xEquipment and supplies$vPeriodicals 606 $aFeed industry$xEquipment and supplies$vPeriodicals 606 $aGrain trade$xEquipment and supplies$vPeriodicals 606 $aFeed industry$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00922403 606 $aFlour industry$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00927741 606 $aGrain trade$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00946068 606 $aMeunerie$vPe?riodiques 606 $aAliments pour animaux$xIndustrie$vPe?riodiques 606 $aCe?re?ales$xCommerce$vPe?riodiques 608 $aPeriodicals.$2fast 615 0$aFlour industry 615 0$aFeed industry 615 0$aGrain trade 615 0$aFlour industry$xEquipment and supplies 615 0$aFeed industry$xEquipment and supplies 615 0$aGrain trade$xEquipment and supplies 615 7$aFeed industry. 615 7$aFlour industry. 615 7$aGrain trade. 615 6$aMeunerie 615 6$aAliments pour animaux$xIndustrie 615 6$aCe?re?ales$xCommerce 676 $a338 676 $a338 801 0$bOCLCS 801 1$bOCLCS 801 2$bOCLCS 801 2$bLGG 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bDLC 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bOCLCO 801 2$bVT2 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bOCLCF 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bUAB 801 2$bOCLCL 801 2$bSRU 801 2$bUUM 801 2$bUEJ 801 2$bCSU 906 $aJOURNAL 912 $a9910132824403321 996 $aFeed & grain$92188783 997 $aUNINA
