From 1995 to 2004, the number of people working in the audiovisual and performing arts sectors rose by 56 percent (to roughly 87,000 and 135,000 respectively). While both artistic and technical occupa- tions shared in this growth, the chief beneficiaries were musicians and technicians in general. At the same time, there was a steady rise in the number of enterprises concerned, particularly from the year 2000 on and more especially in the performing arts field.
