Sous forme thématique ce premier volume envisage les domaines du milieu naturel (relief, climat, végétation, faune) et des activités agro-pastorales et forestières. Les termes patois apparaissent avec leur catégorie grammaticale, leur signification illustrée d'exemples extraits de conversations, leur survivance dans le français local et la microtoponymie du village. Des notes historiques et ethnographiques précèdent chaque chapitre. L'ouvrage illustré de quelques photos s'achève sur un index des mots patois (avec leur sens usuel) et des toponymes (avec la référence aux secteurs du territoire communal).
