It is based on the conviction that philosophy, medical science, medical informatics, and medical ethics are overlapping disciplines. It claims that the philosophical lessons to learn from the twentieth century are not that nature is a 'social construction' and that 'anything goes' with respect to methodological and moral rules. Instead, it claims that there is scientific knowledge, but that it is never completely secure; that there are norms, but that they are situation-bound; and that, therefore, it makes good sense to search for scientific truths and try to act in a morally decent way. Using philosophical catchwords, the authors advocate 'fallibilism' and 'particularism'; a combination that might be called 'pragmatic realism'. 606 $aMedicine$xPhilosophy 606 $aMedical ethics 606 $aScience$xEthics 606 $aPhilosophy 606 $aScience 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aMedicine$xPhilosophy. 615 0$aMedical ethics. 615 0$aScience$xEthics. 615 0$aPhilosophy. 615 0$aScience. 700 $aJohansson$b Ingvar$0615693 701 $aLyno?e$b Niels$0901423 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a996308839403316 996 $aMedicine & philosophy$92014833 997 $aUNISA LEADER 03336oam 2200481 450 001 9910483983803321 005 20210416164428.0 010 $a981-10-6778-3 024 7 $a10.1007/978-981-10-6778-5 035 $a(CKB)4100000011528369 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC6382018 035 $a(DE-He213)978-981-10-6778-5 035 $a(PPN)269150447 035 $a(EXLCZ)994100000011528369 100 $a20210416d2021 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurnn|008mamaa 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 00$aEndoscopy in early gastrointestinal cancers$hVolume 2$iTreatment /$fPhilip W. Carcinoma of the gastrointestinal tract remained a major health issue worldwide, which is, however notoriously difficult to treat. Endoscopic resection for early neoplasia of the gastrointestinal tract had been developed for more than 25 years. Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is a recently developed technique pioneer by Japanese endoscopists. The principle of ESD is to achieve a complete resection of gastrointestinal neoplasia limited to mucosa with adequate circumferential margins. This novel endoscopic technique not only allows the achievement of en-bloc resection for early GI cancers, it also conveys a significantly lower rate of local recurrence as compared to EMR for early gastric cancers. There is an urge for the knowledge in applying these novel technologies for the treatment of early GI neoplasia worldwide. This book on the endoscopic treatment of early GI neoplasia, containing lots of illustrations, artwork and numerous short video clips, serves as a bridge between the recent development in endoscopy and the knowledge of gastroenterologist, endoscopist and surgeons. 606 $aGastrointestinal system$xCancer$xEndoscopic surgery 606 $aEndoscopy 606 $aGastrointestinal system$xCancer$xTreatment 615 0$aGastrointestinal system$xCancer$xEndoscopic surgery. 615 0$aEndoscopy. 615 0$aGastrointestinal system$xCancer$xTreatment. 676 $a616.99433059 702 $aChiu$b Philip W.
