There were two goals. The first was to identify how girls from Turkish origin living in Germany develop a positive view of themselves: How do they perceive opportunities for empowerment, agency, and emancipation? What are their inspirations and aspirations? The second goal was to establish how girls from Turkish origin living in Germany interpreted challenges to seeking a good life at school and in the wider society? With the support of focus groups, the life history interview method and socio-economic questionnaires four main categories were identified in the findings of the research: construction of identity; aspiration for education; marginalization; and living in a multicultural society. Contents Theory of the Capability Approach Construction of Identity Education as an Aspiration Marginalization Living in a Multicultural Society Target Groups Scholars and students of educational science and sociology Practitioners and policy makers in education and human development, with particular reference to migration, multicultural contexts and social inequality The Author Dr. P?nar Burcu Güner is a postdoctoral researcher at Bielefeld School of Public Health. 410 0$aRekonstruktive Sozialisationsforschung,$x2523-8426 606 $aEducational sociology 606 $aLifelong learning 606 $aAdult education 606 $aEmigration and immigration 606 $aSociology of Education$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/O29000 606 $aLifelong Learning/Adult Education$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/O42000 606 $aMigration$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/X24000 607 $aGermany$2fast 615 0$aEducational sociology. 615 0$aLifelong learning. 615 0$aAdult education. 615 0$aEmigration and immigration. 615 14$aSociology of Education. 615 24$aLifelong Learning/Adult Education. 615 24$aMigration. 676 $a305.89435043 700 $aGüner$b Pinar Burcu$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$01064511 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910337747803321 996 $aThe German Good Life I Want$92538694 997 $aUNINA LEADER 02560nam 2200757 450 001 9910796998403321 005 20230809230105.0 010 $a1-5261-0566-7 010 $a1-5261-0565-9 010 $a1-5261-2814-4 010 $a1-5261-2629-X 024 7 $a10.7765/9781526126290 035 $a(CKB)3840000000340306 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC5236874 035 $a(StDuBDS)EDZ0001810789 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL5236874 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebr11502617 035 $a(OCoLC)989820876 035 $a(DE-B1597)659404 035 $a(DE-B1597)9781526126290 035 $a(EXLCZ)993840000000340306 100 $a20180221h20172017 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurcnu|||||||| 181 $2rdacontent 182 $2rdamedia 183 $2rdacarrier 200 00$aColonial exchanges $epolitical theory and the agency of the colonized /$fedited by Burke A. Yet those within colonised societies did not receive those ideas passively. They instead sought to transform or repurpose them, often in surprising or ambiguous ways.
