This book explores the representations and practices aiming at ?doing better?, in the context of health, and more specifically mental health.Contributors focus on dynamics, actors, practical resources, and experience of healing, recovery, ways and means to get through. 517 $aALLER MIEUX APPROCHES SOCIOLOGIQUES 606 $aSocial medicine 606 $aHealing$xSocial aspects 606 $aMental health 606 $aPublic health 615 0$aSocial medicine. 615 0$aHealing$xSocial aspects. 615 0$aMental health. 615 0$aPublic health. 700 $aBeutler$b Hélène$01455762 701 $aBitton$b André$01455763 701 $aBrun$b Philippe$01329560 701 $aCaradec$b Vincent$01238223 701 $aChamahian$b Aline$01298338 701 $aChampion$b Françoise$0382034 701 $aCharmillot$b Maryvonne$01281475 701 $aChemla$b Patrick$01455764 701 $aDemailly$b Lise$01242638 701 $aDembinski$b Olivier$01455765 701 $aDoidy$b Éric$01308822 701 $aDoucet$b Marie-Chantal$01455766 701 $aEyraud$b Benoît$01298323 701 $aFargnoli$b Vanessa$0974437 701 $aFarnarier$b Cyril$01292984 701 $aFerreira$b Cristina$01326334 701 $aFournier$b Claude-Alexandre$01455767 701 $aFrançois$b Guillaume$01455768 701 $aGagnon$b Éric$01455769 701 $aGardien$b Ève$01455770 701 $aGarnoussi$b Nadia$01455771 701 $aGodrie$b Baptiste$01455772 701 $aKoenig$b Marie$01455773 701 $aLefève$b Céline$01328464 701 $aMarquis$b Nicolas$01305492 701 $aMarsili$b Massimo$01455774 701 $aMartin$b Olivier$0506411 701 $aMino$b Jean-Christophe$01455775 701 $aMoigne$b Philippe Le$01455776 701 $aNiewiadomski$b Christophe$01455777 701 $aPluies$b Julie$01455778 701 $aQuintin$b Jacques$01455779 701 $aRafael$b Florentina$01455780 701 $aRaulet$b Yanne$01455781 701 $aRoelandt$b Jean-Luc$01455782 701 $aSantos$b Marie Dos$01455783 701 $aSchappi$b Paula Brum$01455784 701 $aSoulé$b Jérémie$01455785 701 $aStaedel$b Bérénice$01455786 701 $aStona$b Anne-Claire$01455787 701 $aThomas$b Jean-Paul$0375897 701 $aVeit$b Camille$01455788 701 $aVelpry$b Livia$01294904 701 $aVrancken$b Didier$01453939 701 $aWeiss$b Daniel$01296001 701 $aDemailly$b Lise$01242638 701 $aGarnoussi$b Nadia$01455771 801 0$bFR-FrMaCLE 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910495737703321 996 $aAller mieux$93657336 997 $aUNINA LEADER 02697nam 22005293a 450 001 9910289347003321 005 20250624184051.0 010 $a9781911529378 010 $a1911529374 024 7 $a10.5334/bbu 035 $a(CKB)4100000007010659 035 $a(OAPEN)1004245 035 $a(oapen)https://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/38082 035 $a(ScCtBLL)e128a1d9-6ada-45c6-8207-59abb46e321a 035 $a(OCoLC)1066130903 035 $a(Perlego)2344305 035 $a(oapen)doab38082 035 $a(EXLCZ)994100000007010659 100 $a20250203i20132019 uu 101 0 $aeng 135 $auuuuu---auuuu 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 00$aDealing with the Past in Security Sector Reform$fAlexander Mayer-Rieckh 210 $aLondon$cUbiquity Press$d2013 210 1$aLondon :$cUbiquity Press,$d2013. 215 $a1 online resource (79) 225 1 $aSSR Papers 330 $aSecurity sector reform (SSR) and transitional justice processes often occur alongside each other in societies emerging from conflict or authoritarian rule, involve many of the same actors, are supported by some of the same partner countries and impact on each other. Yet the relationship between SSR and transitional justice, or 'dealing with the past' (DwP) as it is also called, remains underexplored and is often marked by ignorance and resistance. While SSR and transitional justice processes can get into each other's way, this paper argues that SSR and DwP are intrinsically linked and can complement each other. SSR can make for better transitional justice and vice versa. Transitional justice needs SSR to prevent a recurrence of abuses, an essential element of justice. SSR can learn from transitional justice not only that it is better to deal with rather than ignore an abusive past but also how to address an abusive legacy in the security sector. The validity of these assumptions is tested in two case studies: the police reform process in Bosnia and Herzegovina after 1995 and the SSR process in Nepal after 2006. 606 $aPolitics & government$2bicssc 606 $aWarfare & defence$2bicssc 610 $asecurity sector reform 610 $agood governance 610 $a transitional justice 610 $ahuman rights 610 $apost-conflict 610 $atransition 615 7$aPolitics & government 615 7$aWarfare & defence 700 $aMayer-Rieckh$b Alexander$0913822 801 0$bScCtBLL 801 1$bScCtBLL 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910289347003321 996 $aDealing with the Past in Security Sector Reform$92047467 997 $aUNINA
