In fact, legend has it that he was born flying, in a hot air balloon at the Paris World?s Fair. In the 1890s Conor and his family live on the sovereign Saltee Islands, off the Irish coast. Conor spends his days studying the science of flight with his tutor and exploring the castle with the king?s daughter, Princess Isabella. But the boy?s idyllic life changes forever the day he discovers a deadly conspiracy against the king. When Conor tries to intervene, he is branded a traitor and thrown into jail on the prison island of Little Saltee. There, he has to fight for his life, as he and the other prisoners are forced to mine for diamonds in inhumane conditions.   There is only one way to escape Little Saltee, and that is to fly. So Conor passes the solitary months by scratching drawings of flying machines on the prison walls. The months turn into years; but eventually the day comes when Conor must find the courage to trust his revolutionary designs and take to the skies. 606 $aYoung Adult Fiction$2OverDrive 606 $aFantasy$2OverDrive 606 $aHistorical Fiction$2OverDrive 606 $aTravel Literature$2OverDrive 608 $aHandbooks and manuals.$2lcgft 615 17$aYoung Adult Fiction. 615 7$aFantasy. 615 7$aHistorical Fiction. 615 7$aTravel Literature. 686 $aYAF001000$aYAF019040$aYAF064000$2bisacsh 700 $aColfer$b Eoin$01775412 701 $aKeating$b John$01746991 801 0$bGPO 801 1$bGPO 906 $aAUDIO 912 $a9910703394603321 996 $aAirman$94290002 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03122nam 22005535 450 001 9910300532603321 005 20200630173356.0 010 $a981-13-3092-1 024 7 $a10.1007/978-981-13-3092-6 035 $a(CKB)4100000007111014 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC5583517 035 $a(DE-He213)978-981-13-3092-6 035 $a(PPN)232468958 035 $a(EXLCZ)994100000007111014 100 $a20181103d2018 u| 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurcnu|||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aSix-Dimensional Superconformal Field Theories and Their Torus Compactifications /$fby Kantaro Ohmori 205 $a1st ed. 2018. 210 1$aSingapore :$cSpringer Singapore :$cImprint: Springer,$d2018. 215 $a1 online resource (122 pages) 225 1 $aSpringer Theses, Recognizing Outstanding Ph.D. Research,$x2190-5053 311 $a981-13-3091-3 327 $aIntroduction -- Six Dimensional Superconformal Field Theories -- Circle and Torus Compacti?cations -- Conclusion. 330 $aThis thesis describes the structures of six-dimensional (6d) superconformal field theories and its torus compactifications. The first half summarizes various aspects of 6d field theories, while the latter half investigates torus compactifications of these theories, and relates them to four-dimensional superconformal field theories in the class, called class S. It is known that compactifications of 6d conformal field theories with maximal supersymmetries provide numerous insights into four-dimensional superconformal field theories. This thesis generalizes the story to the theories with smaller supersymmetry, constructing those six-dimensional theories as brane configurations in the M-theory, and highlighting the importance of fractionalization of M5-branes. This result establishes new dualities between the theories with eight supercharges. 410 0$aSpringer Theses, Recognizing Outstanding Ph.D. Research,$x2190-5053 606 $aQuantum field theory 606 $aString models 606 $aPhysics 606 $aParticles (Nuclear physics) 606 $aQuantum Field Theories, String Theory$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/P19048 606 $aMathematical Methods in Physics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/P19013 606 $aElementary Particles, Quantum Field Theory$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/P23029 615 0$aQuantum field theory. 615 0$aString models. 615 0$aPhysics. 615 0$aParticles (Nuclear physics) 615 14$aQuantum Field Theories, String Theory. 615 24$aMathematical Methods in Physics. 615 24$aElementary Particles, Quantum Field Theory. 676 $a530.14 700 $aOhmori$b Kantaro$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0835969 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910300532603321 996 $aSix-Dimensional Superconformal Field Theories and Their Torus Compactifications$91868325 997 $aUNINA
