Drawing on extensive research into the associations' organisation, policies and tactics, this study argues that French veterans were more of a threat to democracy than previous scholarship has allowed. As France descended into crisis, the UF and the UNC sought to extend their influence into the non-veteran milieu through public demonstrations, propaganda campaigns and the foundation of auxiliary groups. Despite shifting policies and independent initiatives, by the end of the 1930s the UF and the UNC had come together in a campaign for authoritarian political reform, leaving them perfectly placed to become the 'eyes and ears' of Marshal Pe?tain's Vichy regime. Offering an original contribution to the history of late Third Republican political culture, From victory to Vichy will appeal to students and scholars of modern France and Europe."--Provided by publisher. 410 0$aCultural history of modern war. 606 $aWorld War, 1914-1918$xVeterans$zFrance$xSocieties, etc$xHistory 606 $aVeterans$zFrance$xSocieties, etc$xHistory 607 $aFrance$xHistory$y1914-1940 607 $aFrance$xPolitics and government$y1914-1940 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aWorld War, 1914-1918$xVeterans$xSocieties, etc.$xHistory. 615 0$aVeterans$xSocieties, etc.$xHistory. 676 $a369.244 700 $aMillington$b Chris$01036096 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910462357803321 996 $aFrom victory to Vichy$92456232 997 $aUNINA LEADER 05180nam 2200613 450 001 9910806825203321 005 20230808193933.0 010 $a90-04-32134-9 024 7 $a10.1163/9789004321342 035 $a(CKB)3710000000739266 035 $a(EBL)4585061 035 $a(SSID)ssj0001691134 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)16483252 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0001691134 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)15014153 035 $a(PQKB)21387927 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC4585061 035 $a(OCoLC)944160262$z(OCoLC)945353592 035 $a(nllekb)BRILL9789004321342 035 $a(EXLCZ)993710000000739266 100 $a20160810h20162016 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur|n|---||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 00$aCorpus linguistics on the move $eexploring and understanding English through corpora /$fedited by Mari?a Jose? Corpus linguistics on the move: Exploring and understanding English through corpora comprises fourteen contributions by leading scholars in the field of English corpus linguistics, covering areas of central concern in corpus research and corpus methodology. The topics examined in the different chapters include issues related to corpus compilation and annotation, perspectives from specialized corpora, and studies on grammatical and pragmatic aspects of English, all these examined through a broad range of corpora, both synchronic and diachronic, representing both EFL and different native varieties of English worldwide. The volume will be of primary interest to students and researchers working on English corpus linguistics, but is also likely to have a wider general appeal. Contributors are: Bas Aarts, Siân Alsop, Anita Auer, Jill Bowie, Eduardo Coto-Villalibre, Pieter de Haan, Johan Elsness, Moragh Gordon, Hilde Hasselgård, Turo Hiltunen, Magnus Huber, Marianne Hundt, Mikko Laitinen, Martti Mäkinen, Beatriz Mato-Míguez, Mike Olson, Antoinette Renouf, and Bianca Widlitzki. 410 0$aLanguage and computers ;$vVolume 79. 606 $aCorpora (Linguistics) 606 $aEnglish language$xData processsing 606 $aLinguistic analysis (Linguistics) 606 $aComputational linguistics 615 0$aCorpora (Linguistics) 615 0$aEnglish language$xData processsing. 615 0$aLinguistic analysis (Linguistics) 615 0$aComputational linguistics. 676 $a420.1/88 702 $aLo?pez-Couso$b Mari?a Jose? 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910806825203321 996 $aCorpus linguistics on the move$94117632 997 $aUNINA
