Leading us chronologically through the settlement of the state, Marshall considers the place of homemade music in people's lives across social and ethnic communities from the late 1700's to the World War I years and into the early 1920's. Through the settlement of the state of Missouri, Marshall investigates how these communities established our cultural heritage, the "Old Stock Americans," (primarily Scotch-Irish from Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Virginia) ; African Americans, German-speaking immigrants, people with American Indian ancestry (focusing on Cherokee families dating from the Trail of Tears in the 1830's), and Irish railroad workers in the post-Civil War period. These are the primary communities whose fiddle and dance traditions came together on the Missouri frontier to cultivate the bounty of old-time fiddling enjoyed today. 606 $aFiddlers$zMissouri 615 0$aFiddlers 676 $a787.2 700 $aMarshall$b Howard W$01805447 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910960792703321 996 $aPlay me something quick and devilish$94354045 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03415nam 22006375 450 001 9910983493103321 005 20250213115236.0 010 $a9789819617814 010 $a9819617812 024 7 $a10.1007/978-981-96-1781-4 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC31908864 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL31908864 035 $a(CKB)37527876700041 035 $a(DE-He213)978-981-96-1781-4 035 $a(OCoLC)1499928990 035 $a(EXLCZ)9937527876700041 100 $a20250213d2025 u| 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurcnu|||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 14$aThe 8th International Conference on Information Science, Communication and Computing /$fedited by Yanfeng Wang, Yang Xiao, Zhiqiang Wu, Yuan Tian 205 $a1st ed. 2025. 210 1$aSingapore :$cSpringer Nature Singapore :$cImprint: Springer,$d2025. 215 $a1 online resource (465 pages) 225 1 $aSmart Innovation, Systems and Technologies,$x2190-3026 ;$v434 311 08$a9789819617807 311 08$a9819617804 327 $aBlockchain-Based Verifiable Multi-Keyword Ciphertext Retrieval Scheme -- A Secure and Efficient Signcryption Scheme Applying in IoT Scenarios -- A Distraction Mining Network for Polyp Segmentation -- ORLQ: A Link Quality-Based Routing Protocol for UWSN -- A method for lightweight DDoS attack detection based on LightGBM. 330 $aThis conference proceedings is a collection of the accepted papers of ISCC2024 - the 8th International Conference on Information Science, Communication and Computing, held in Zhengzhou, China, 23-25 August 2024. EINLEITUNGII. DER ZAUBER DER GELDES 1.
